Just yesterday I went up to a yard sale, and was happy to find that they had some video games there.
 
They were all old crappy PC games, and I bought most of them since they were all a buck or less.
 
Among them are Silent Thunder: A-10 Tank Killer II, Microsoft Flight Simulator (the original from 1995), Goosebumps: Attack of the Mutant, Mortal Kombat II (for DOS!), and the newest one of the bunch... Wildlife Tycoon: Venture Africa.
 
It's been a while since I've gotten video games from a yard sale... hell it's been a while since i've WENT to a yard sale.  I remember back in the 90's finding Atari 2600's with whole sets of games for around 50 bucks, sometimes even cheaper.  I remember finding a whole case of NES games for 10 bucks.
 
It seems the age of Yard sales are dying down, now with the advent of Ebay, and people being able to generally get more money selling stuff online than off their front yard.
 
Do you guys have any good memories of yard sales gone by? remember finding any good deals on video games?

That's nothing I found a sealed copy of shaqfu for the gamegear at a yard sale.

Yard sales have been useless to me over the years. I find that the "Salvation Army" stores usually have interesting electronics or gaming related things. I have found many hidden treasures at the salvation army.

You should fill out the Wiki for Wildlife Tycoon when you finish up with it, I remember I tried to read about it a while ago when I saw it mentioned off-site.
 
There's very rarely yard sales around here, but my friend got his Saturn at a yard sale and I was with him for that, so that was pretty cool. But I agree that pawn shops and salvation army usually have much better electronic gems.

I go to yard sales a lot. I find video games sometimes. I went to this one where all they had was videogames and dvds. TONS of them for all systems. It was heaven. I ended up getting, Banjo Kazooie (N64), Eternal Darkness (GC), The Legend of Zelda OoT Master Quest (Basically mint, looked like it had never been played and just taken out of the plastic wrap), Contra (NES), and a purple GC controller for $9 total. What an awesome deal, considering both Eternal Darkness and Ocarina of Time Master Quest are not exactly common and usually go for about $30 used by themselves. And to top it off, I went to Goodwill after to see what they had and picked up Golden Eye for N64 for $3.

Used bookstores sometimes take in used games, the one near me does.  Did find a copy of Toonstruck (UK version weirdly enough) a while back, reminds me to go play it.

no, i never go to yard sales. my parents even bought me anything when i went. a lot of yard sales are gone since ebay and internet.

I was so bored with a yard sale that I totally missed, until my friend and I had already driven away, a Game Gear with a ton of games on a table for very cheap.  I still get nervous every time we're near a yard sale because I worry that games that I want to play may be sitting there, cooking in the sun...
