Seriously man? You need to learn a few things about friendship. There is absolutely nothing wrong with helping a friend find the best deal, and the worker who thought it was cool just kicking people out of the store he works in really needs to learn his place. That man should be fired.

Anyways, I know a few people who work and GameSpot and they are all pretty cool people to talk to. The few experiences I've had at GameStop weren't too bad. I almost always buy my PC games at retail because it would take forever for my internet to download if I bought from Steam or something.

" He laid it out that this is the time that IW will be able to lockdown Profiles, and make PC gamers pay for map packs. IW.NET and steam VAC will be sure to lock down the profiles, and Modern Warfare 2 being a Steam game, will allow IW to put DLC on there. good on IW for doing that. and good on Jeff for predicting that. "

So, profiles, which eventually will probably be "cracked" in some way as you know...  Rip off PC gamers by making them pay for shit that's actually supposed to be free. (See Killing Floor for some big free updates.)  And since when's steam been any problem at all for any kind of control on a game? Steam game = cracked on the day of release or day after.  So, they've pissed a ton of people off and achieved nothing, apart from making the game much less desirable than it would otherwise have been. "
Didn't you just prove why they need this protection in the first place. Of course it is going to get cracked eventually. But they have to at least try. Cause the vast majority do not have the know how to crack a game. If you do not want to support the game. Just do not buy it.   And who says it should be free. Most of the time it is new content that they had to pay to create. Do you people think you deserve a prize for buying a game? What makes you even think it should be free. Just because a few select companies make the choice to give it away for free. Does not mean that everyone else should be expected to as well.  "
No, it doesn't mean they should give it out for free. However, that also means that we don't have to buy their product, as they are giving us a game with less value. If people don't want to buy the game, they don't have to. It is kind of ridiculous to complain for something that won't happen, but it is altogether another whole thing to tell people to shut up and just buy Modern Warfare 2 because you are.

Just because the vast majority of people don't know how to crack a game doesn't mean piracy is going to drop. To play a pirated copy, all you need to know is how to click the download button. I'm not going to go into any more detail. Trying or not, piracy will not be hindered at all.

And by the way, Modern Warfare 1 didn't sell very well on the PC (again, blamed on piracy). I was very surprised MW2 came out for PC.

Also, I have a sneaking suspicion that the new IWNet is made to block piracy. With dedicated servers, servers can be cracked and people can be made to play on it. Infinity Ward was not happy at all with the amount of illegitimate players online.

And yeah, I have respect for Jeff after he got fired for giving Kane and Lynch the score it deserved. Definitely a knowledgeable man.

" @vindKtiv: Not complaining about something trivial suddenly equals "jumping off a cliff"?  IW streamlining the online play of their game is not the end of the world.  Sure, less customization sucks, but the amount of bitching and moaning coming from people like you is fucking ridiculous, espcially considering it will do jack-shit to change their minds and that most of you will probably still play the game when it comes out. "

Now you've officially entered the deep end. I didn't know you could get that ridiculous.

First of all, it isn't "trivial." If you weren't as ignorant as how you perceive "us," then you probably would see that. When you follow the crowd, yes, you are kind of "jumping of the cliff." IW is NOT streamlining the online play of their game, and yes, less customization sucks like hell. What is fucking ridiculous isn't how much we use our voice, but how blindly and willingly you endorse and buy whatever crap that gets sent your way, just because it has a name you recognize. Protesting won't change the mind of the developers. However, it does give a unified front for the consumers to voice their objection. And honestly, probably none of us are going to play the game. The first MW wasn't even that good with gameplay geared towards ADD-addled 16 year olds who play their 360 (thank God I used my friend's Steam account to play it). I know I sure as hell ain't dropping extra to play a crap sequel.

Oh yeah, I picked a very nice comic. It sums up a very good portion of the CoD4 demographic (I say very good portion because there are a few normal people who do play CoD4).

" And they gave Uncharted 2 a 37, right?   I mean, Uncharted 2 isn't a perfect game... but Famitsu's a fucking joke. "
Famitsu is probably one of the farthest thing from a joke in the video game journalism world. If something gets a 40/40, then you know it is crazy good.
Uncharted 2 did deserve a good score for being a good game, but it definitely wasn't the best game and a non-perfect score for it is understandable.
I'll say, I am surprised though. Bayonetta just looked like another action game when I read about it oh-so-long-ago.

They aren't obligated to do it. You aren't losing a DAMN THING. Calm down. Jesus Christ.  You know what's worse than Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo fanboys? The P.C.D.F. (The PC DEFENSE FORCE). When they have to pay for a game, they become outraged, and demolish the credibility and sales of certain games, like Spore. They are the most selfish crowd of all. They complain about every fucking little thing. They form useless petitions. Boycott games they want. (And end up pirating them anyway because deep down they really want to play the game). They brag about their superiority to console gamers, calling everyone else ignorant. When in fact it's the other way around.  "

Complete logic fail.

You know why we are complaining? It is because we are consumers of superior products. We are spoiled by them and we will not take anything less than the treatment we have been given. The publishers and developers are currently attempting to turn the PC market into a console market, and most PC gamers are justified in their attempt to bring the industry back into its superior position. The whole reason why games like L4D2 and MW2 have encountered such resistance is because they have, in part, become "consolized," with a game every week, the lack of support, and all these other gimmicks attempting to get at the money. PC gamers are accustomed to being prioritized higher than money like they have historically. Most hardcore PC gamers do not pirate and do not support software piracy. I myself have never, ever pirated a game. Spore was not demolished because the consumer was forced to pay for it. Rather, Spore was utterly demolished for its utterly ridiculous and draconian DRM. Look at Sims 3, a game done right with no DRM and no BS day-one DLC that actually runs. It sold very well. We call people like you ignorant, because, well, you are and your post completely proves it. "
So in other words PC gamers are whiny man-children?  In that case I'm pretty happy about this change; spoiled children need to learn they don't always get everything they want. "
And stupid people need to learn not to take everything that is thrown at them. Just because you are foolish enough to buy such a crap product doesn't mean you need to bring everyone down with you. The PC gamers who are complaining know better than to just endorse a crap product just because it is part of the CoD series. Foolish people need to know following the crowd off the cliff isn't the smartest thing to do.

" I am taking an AP Journalism class so i had to type a three to four page assignment on one of three following     1. structured interview     2. educated critizism (Review of book ,video game ,or movie)     3. report current event I chose option two the review. I reviewed chose to review a game (keep in mind my teacher lets us chose a video game is we wanted to to). I wanted to chose a game i've played a lot in the past and still consitly play so I chose Halo 3. I typed a three and a half page paper and got a 93% I had a few spelling thing here and there. After class my teacher calls me to her desk and tells me that video game are a waste of time and I should not persu a career in it. I was mad but in the end I got a A- and I passed the class. So is my teacher a bitch or is she right? (sorry for any spelling errors Microsoft word down.) "
For the most part, yes she is correct. The video game industry pays very poorly and competition is very high. Just look around you. There are tons and tons of people who absolutely just love video games. A lot of them are willing to "do what they love" and forgo pay for it. If you are smart enough to get into AP Journalism and maybe pass the AP test with a 4 or a 5, I'm going to straight up tell you that you can do a lot more than review video games with your talents.

Nevertheless, if you absolutely love video games, are willing to work on video games until you hate it, and endure "slave labor," then I say why not? It is your life, you do whatever you want with it. A common occurrence that happened a lot with people I know is, they get into the industry, then they get out. They absolutely can't take it anymore because working on games, whether it be publishing, developing, or writing about them, is not a game. If you understand that and still are willing to go through with your dreams, then just do it.
