@vinny: I decided to just go listen to the regular one and skip through the ads and I haven’t heard any yet so I think Premium is somehow in the regular slot??

Nah, they are doing some new dynamic ad stuff where it should insert ads if there are any and it's all done in the backend. If there currently aren't any then none will show up. We have to build in the breaks regardless. I'm still curious, honestly, to see it all working in action. Very new, very fancy.

I love you Vinny but sometimes your hosting is frusterating. You guys hate talking about any game week to week, even if you enjoy it and play it a lot, but listening to 20 minutes a week plus about what Jeffs kid wants to watch Jeff play is super entertaining I guess.

Noted. Thanks for the love. I'll leave you to discuss it out with the other vocal camp of people that hate hearing about the same game every week. Somewhere, in the eye of that feedback hurricane will be podcasting tranquility and I will live there.

Podcasts going to the wrong feed for weeks, getting ads in the premium podcast, videos stuck in limbo between the stream archive going up and the rendered version getting posted...

Whatever is going on with the backend of the site needs a swift kick in the head.

There has definitely been some problems. They haven't updated the premium feed either which is all I use which seems a bit lame.

Sorry, is it showing up now?

@crashtanuki: Hmm, sorry about the download stuff. I'll probably have to wait until I'm back in the office on Monday to see what's going on.

Hey Vinny! Not sure if you're reading the comments, but for Disco Elysium, the tone of the game tends to get away from Cuno's character. I think the writing is quite strong, but I think the voice acting is really poor. All in all, I'm really loving the game despite that. I'm interested in hearing what you think if you decide to continue with it!

Thanks. Yeah, I thought I said I liked it more the further away from Cuno I got on the podcast as well. I put a few hours into it past that point and I'll probably go back to it at some point. Haven't formed a complete opinion on it yet but I'm still interested. Not my strongest first impression, but I also disliked the Witcher 1 when I first played it and took awhile to come back to it. Thanks for the reasonable response and I'm interested in how it plays out as well.

Ok here’s the thing. If you look at the painting it clearly only has the base layer down. It has no facial features it just has a rough outline of the body position. I realize Vinny is not expected to be an artist but when you criticize at lease make sure you have a basic understanding. Vinny saying it should be a blank canvas is off because it pretty much is a blank canvas if your an artist. It’s nothing more than background layer that will be painted over.

Wait, this is exactly my point. I think you're misunderstanding this very small and inconsequential criticism. Why do they show your actual model of the character in the background if they have this setup of the artist with a blank canvas during the character creator? It just seems like they were so close to doing what I think is their intention if they just nudge the camera over a few inches and obscure the 3D model.

Not an artist.... how dare you. May I present the culmination of 4 years of art school:

Heads up, Vinny (very briefly) spoils the plot of this game twice in this QL at 39:30 - 39:40 and 43:40 - 43:50

Yeah that is fucking uncool man, as someone who is normally the first to mention spoilers ahead , why the hell would Vinny do this TWICE?

Many people have never played the original and this is a high-profile Switch release.

Dick moveby @vinny seriously

You're right, I definitely wouldn't do this intentionally. As I've said, I've never played much of this so I assumed this was the conceit of the game or it was a theory as it's the main thing I see referenced when it is put into timelines and talked about. I thought I was being cheeky in trying to make sense of it. No idea this was a major plot point. Weird how calling out spoilers can sometimes be spoilers.

Raven open sourcing Jedi Outcast isn't especially weird. Remember that it's running off the Quake3 engine, which has been open source for over a decade. Also remember that just because a game has been open sourced doesn't mean that all the assets are included in the repo package. If you're wanting to compile and run those Id games you need to provide your own copy of the game with the pak files which contain the maps, models, sounds, textures, etc. I don't imagine there's any Star Wars copyrighted assets being distributed with Raven/Id's source code.

That's interesting and not something that had occurred to me but seems obvious now (about the assets). Thanks.

Getting a case of deja vu, it's like episode 220 all over.

Get the non-premium version if you want to escape the time-loop.
