Umm.. Ultima IV has been free for a very long time on various legal sites dedicated to Ultima and/or retrogaming. The last time EA themselves were involved was with the launch of ultimaforever.com, which happened earlier this year if memory serves me right.

Sadly I bet that most GB users who download it will give up rather shortly since the Ultima games does not hold your hand or direct you to what you are supposed to be doing when you first set out. A lot of the charm of those games was to figure that out for yourself (with a little help from the manual, maps and history books that usually came with the games), but in modern time this method is, granted, a bit archaic for most gamers.  If you manage to complete Ultima IV on the other hand, then Ultima V awaits... and that one's truly massive. Also, utterly and insanely great. ;)

This guy wrote a book or two about it, and also got youtube videos and a podcast about it. I haven't checked out the book or podcast but his videos are quite fun, especially the ones about the Ultima series.

The bracelet isn't needed to complete the quest. It's just an XP bonus.

It seems like they are up in Europe now too. I just got the 10 games added to my downloaded list.

I seriously doubt anyone in this day and age could enjoy the mess that was Ultima II. The first one and the third one blew my mind when they came out but the second.. well, that's a game I woved never, EVER to play again after I finished it.

I do envy those of you who haven't played Ultima 1 before though. The later stages of that RPG are just pure gold (and utterly whimsical. ;)).

Not disappointed at all. This is one of  the best games that has come out in quite a while. The only flaw it has is that it should be longer, because I don't want this  joyride to ever end.

There's a program (which I can't remember the name of) that lets you choose on which drives you want your games on. Do some Google-Fu on that.

Personally I did THIS, and moved everything onto a 2TB drive.

@FluxWaveZ: It's all boring until it starts coming together. Even the simple stuff you're doing now ends up doing SOMETHING when you're done =) Soon you'll get to that point where you've got a handle on the code and you can make yourself whatever you want. What I'm working on now is gonna take a long ass while but I really want to get into iOS afterwards. Not to make games, or anything commercial, just to build myself stupid ass stuff that only I'll use =P

I know you stated you didn't want to make games for iOS devices but the Cocos2D framework is a rather fun way of doing it if you change your mind. There's even a book out for it apparently... but I had fun exploring its nuances without it.

Front Mission Evolved on a steam sale. Absolutely great game, until they put four elite boss-mechs against you... 15 tries later I said "screw this", and haven't returned.
