EA spreads it's wings over the extreme sports genre. 0

Set in a vast, vibrant, sunny skater paradise that never rains, snows, thunders, or, even has nightfall, Skate takes away the gimmicky cities in past skateboard games (can you guess which?), that always somehow seem to feature perfectly placed ramps in random places, and brings a new, exciting edge into skating games: realism. Skate is the 'simulation' to Tony Hawk's 'arcade' style, that throws away the silliness, and smacks you in the face with a harsh dose of reality. Gone are the days of 80,...

One of the very first X-TREME offerings on a game console. 0

One of the few quality games released by the now defunct LJN, was this innovative '88 release. Taking to the sea and streets, T&C offered two limited, but punishingly hard modes of play: skate and surf. Well, there's also a third mode, but it's basically the combo of team skating and surfing. I remember when I was younger playing this game, and actually being better at the skating than I am now. I also had no clue how to surf in this game, and well, I still don't. Multiple playthroughs come...

The first, and last (?) of it's kind. 0

Rarely do you hear of a pinball adventure game. For what it is, this game is actually quite enjoyable. Of course shoddy controls and strange physics make it slightly more annoying than fun, but hey, it's an NES game, what were you expecting? The game is actually also quite good on length, level design is also pretty unique and interesting. Pool, bowling, boss fights, finding keys, even buying items make their appearance throughout this game, making it an odd pinball adventure/rpg/strategy/act...

Dynasty Warriors 6 is a surprisingly improved game. 1

In the Warriors Orochi review I did not too long ago, I bashed it for being a formula that was done over, and over, and over again, with no new changes at all. Well, Koei has finally produced a new Dynasty Warriors game, that finally starts to break out of it. To anyone who's followed and played the DW series, you can instantly feel the change as soon as you get to playing in Dynasty Warriors 6, it simply seems to breathe a little more life. It takes the DW engine, and gives it a fresh new coa...

Dynasty Warriors 26. I mean, Samurai Warriors 18. I mean, Warrior 1

Is there a reason Koei keeps making these games? Do they really sell? Is there a market for clone after clone after clone after clone of an engine, name, and story? The Dynasty Warriors formula was new and exciting, with Dynasty Warriors 2, a launch game for the PS2. 8 years later, it's not so new and exciting. This is a very simple review. If you've played one Dynasty Warriors game in your life, you have essentially played this game. And the next DW/Samurai Warriors game. And the next one aft...

Improving on the small screen(s) 0

I was one of the many that got AC on the GameCube on it's release date, and played it constantly. Something so addicting about it that keeps you coming back that you can't explain, a small charm that games such as Harvest Moon and The Sims have that you can't put your finger on. Animal Crossing was a great game, and it gets a great adaptation on the DS. There are a huge set of changes for the better, that makes the game run and flow just that much better. It can be little things, such as when ...

One of the worst offerings on the 360. 0

As ashamed as I am to say, I played DOA X Volleyball on the original Xbox. And in a strange way, it was fulfilling, for about 5 hours. DOA X2 gets old after 5 minutes. DOA X2 feels like a direct port of the older game. Everything being exactly the same, no real new additions and no extractions. To summarize, this game is barebones with cheap T&A, and really no redeeming value at all. But there IS good news. If you somehow enjoy collecting swimsuits while playing awkward volleyball, this ...

Brain Age this isn't. 0

With the recent boom of IQ testing and brain teasing games, XBLA rolls out it's own. What you get is a failed Nintendo DS game, something more suited for a bargain bin. Off the bat you're greeted by your soon-to-be-very-annoying teacher/scientist/doctor/whatever you prefer, and off you go into a plethora of challenging, fun minigames. Well, not challenging. Or really fun at all, either. A few of the categories you're tested upon are visual, logic, memory, and other assorted areas. And the mini...
