This comment section is a disaster, and only further reinforces my feeling of being done with Giant Bomb. All these comments chiding Abby are disgusting. I haven't even listened to the podcast. All I know and need to know is that she doesn't like Bayonetta. That's fine. There are so many comments here that are like "but Bayonetta is strong, empowered, and has agency" or "she was designed by a woman" as if this invalidates Abby's opinion. Mari Shimazaki doesn't speak for all women; the cinematography betrays Bayonetta's character; and Bayonetta doesn't actually have any real choice — she was designed by humans. Also, the problem with female representation in games is diversity, not a lack of "strong" characters. Men get all the diversity, but women in games are usually relegated to sex objects. So it shouldn't be a surprise when a woman tells you that they're not into yet another video game character defined by her sexuality.
Pyra's boobs look messed up, like they're not attached to her chest or something. It's really weird and distracting. Maybe it's just the boob cups and she'd look more human with more realistic armor.
This was a really poor showing of this game. I hope people seeing Phantom Dust for the first time don't look at this and jump to the conclusion that this game sucks.
I've been really enjoying the beta, and I thought the GB folks might like it too, but I guess not. Nothing wrong with wanting another Quake 3 Arena, but constantly lamenting how Quake Champions is not Quake 3 Arena for an hour doesn't make for an enjoyable video. The negativity became quite grating.
Also, I don't understand why people keep referring to the champions as classes. They're not classes. Classes designate a role. You're not choosing a role when you pick a champion.
The lack of direction and the amount of freedom this game has just makes me wonder what the point of playing is then. I'm not saying I want this to be like Far Cry or any other open world game with useless side-quests and meaningless collectibles littered everywhere. There doesn't even seem like there's a story driving the game, especially if you can confront Ganon whenever you want. Why would I want to do any of it? I don't know. Maybe I'm broken.
I'm getting this game with my Switch tomorrow, so I guess I'll find out soon enough.
