ALL drugs?
No. Pot might not be that bad for you, but there's some stuff out there that is really bad for you. For instance, there's a drug in Russia known as Krokodil that can cause severe damage to your skin. According to the Wiki article, the life expectancy of an addict is only two to three years.
So, not all drugs are going to kill you. But are some drugs bad? You bet your bottom fucking dollar they are.
Ah, this is actually a bad example. It isn't the Desomorphine itself doing the damage here, the illict synthesis uses poorly sourced chemicals [such as car battery acid with lead impurities instead of reagent grade Suplhuric acid] and the Desomorphine isn't purified before use. These cause the tissue damage, not Desomorphine itself, which is used as an analgesic medically. Not to say that abuse of it would be harmless, it'd be on par with heroin abuse if pure [where confusion about dosage stemming from impure street samples is the primary cause of death].
Sorry about the rant; I'm a medicinal chemist and I always see Krokodil used as an extreme example of drug abuse, and while true people always focus on the effects of the impurities rather than the real dangers of opiate addiction.
