Playing the Witcher 3 on PC. I am having an absolute blast!

If you don't have the DLC's, I can't recommend them enough. Sunk 150hrs into that game playing through all of it with my wife, what an unforgettable experience.

Did the exact same. The DLC's are unbelievably good.

Witcher 3 has become my fav game of all time, and I'm not big into single player usually.
My wife loved watching me play it. She was so wrapped up in the stories.

One of my favorite gaming memories ever.

@xeirus: Calm down. We get it, you were burned by Destiny, so you want the whole Destiny world to burn. But there is no reason to act like that to Huxleyy with the "English isn't your first language" comment. And let's be honest, the comparisons to WoW aren't as clean cut as your making them out to be either. Yeah, there was definitely a lot more to do in WoW when it launched, but that was a decade ago and nobody makes games like that anymore. You also paid $50 for the base game and $15 a month in a subscription fee, or an extra $180 in that first year. And besides updates in patches, no major content was launched for 2 1/2 years. So you paid essentially between $450-$500 for that content if you played it from launch up until the first expansion. Now lets take a look at Destiny. $60 for the base game, $35 for the expansion pass, so your at $95. That includes everything up until The Taken King. So Year 1 of Destiny is $95 vs. $230. Then you have The Taken King that launched for either $40 for existing players or $60 for all new players. That's Year 2 of Destiny for $40 vs. $180 for WoW, or $60 vs. again $230 for new players of WoW. Destiny just launched with a completely different pricing model than WoW, mostly based off of the fact that subscriptions don't make sense for anyone anymore. This resulted in content dropping more often than WoW and us being charged for each piece of that content.

Now as far as the content of vanilla Destiny goes, I can understand where you are coming from. I disagree that there wasn't a lot of content, there was plenty of content for a $60 game release. But I can understand the sentiment behind that argument because most of that content wasn't of the best quality. The strikes were great and Vault of Glass was the best thing in gaming at that time. I don't think that point is disputed by many. There just wasn't enough of it and it was hidden behind certain barriers that made it hard to access, like finding a group of 5 other players leveled high enough to try and tackle it with you. Destiny also, seemingly by accident, did some pretty great things for coop gaming and social interaction within a console game unlike any console game before it. Something I still don't think Bungie understands because to this day they still haven't expanded on the single best part of the game in better social features within the game. So if you didn't find a group to play VoG with regularly I can certainly understand the gripes leveled at vanilla Destiny. But as of today Destiny isn't even remotely close to that game anymore. The Taken King changed a lot for the better, and it's one of the reasons the Giantbomb Staff just gave it 2015's Old Game of The Year. I would argue that the vast majority of the Destiny player base spent more time in Destiny in 2015 than any other console game.

What do you even mean "nobody makes games like that anymore"? There's plenty of games with good content and a valid pay models.

The whole problem with Destiny is their blatant grab for cash after handing everyone a husk of a game. If Bungie had said from the beginning that their game was severely lacking content, and the rest of it was being released as paid DLC, no one would have had an issue. The problem is charging full price for an obvious lacking game, and then expecting the player to fill in the content gaps with more cash so close to release. There was not even close to enough content for a $60 game.

Your price comparison with WoW doesn't hold up. Blizzard had the content, you knew what you were getting, you knew there was a sub, you knew there were expansions. Transparency goes a long way.

@sweep: @xeirus: You could see the upside too. Kotaku is reporting this F2P stuff will finance content releases in between yearly expansions/full games. This will eliminate the requirement to buy DLCs in between releases because it will be free for anyone who owns the most up to date version of the game. So now you will get content for free instead of paying 40 bucks in between 60$ releases. A great idea if the content is there.

Haha yeah but there's no evidence of this happening at all. If Bungie thinks it's OK to say "Buy some emotes now and we'll throw something together that you'll like for free later on" then that's not free, you're just pre-ordering unknown DLC and using emotes as currency. Which is stupid.

Right now I just paid a load of money for what I consider redundant content, ie the first two expansions. It was worth it because I like Destiny and I think the Taken King is great, but I also think it's unreasonable for them to then ask for even more money for something as superfluous as emotes when they've just overcharged me for DLC.

I don't think you can call buying emotes pre-orders. I'm not going to buy any of them and I'm over here going to get free DLC.

Again that DLC could be pointless but I'm getting something they probably wouldn't have added to the game before for free because other people want the emotes.

You're a monster!

It sounds more like you're "augmenting your pre-order DLC" off of someone else. If someone has to buy something to get something else, that is NOT free. It's like the "free" breakfast at a hotel. It might seem free, but you definitely paid for it.

$20 says their "free" DLC is a joke, much like the first two expansions. Gotta love those reusable assets and environments.

Isn't that the entire point of the free to play model, to "augment" your free content off of the impulse purchases of others? I don't have a problem with this, as someone who has spent $155 on Destiny (went Digital for Taken King), and who might even buy some of these if the price is right ($0.99, I'm dreaming I know, maybe 1 or 2 at $1.99, but I won't pay more than that). As long as it is just emotes and other cosmetic items such as those Jackolites from last Halloween and maybe Santa Hats that last 30min I don't think it's something to get upset over. Especially if it does in fact allow for the smaller DLC content packs like Dark Below and House of Wolves to be free. Now if that "free" content is a new quest once a month and no more substantial DLC this year, I'll have my pitchfork out with the rest of you guys.

@sweep: Paying a lot of money for redundant content in the first two expansions, is that referencing the reuse of assets and areas for missions in those DLC's or the fact that you had to buy those DLC's with The Taken King as part of the $60 Legendary Edition? I totally understand the gripe if the former, especially with Dark Below's story, but not if it's the later. You basically paid an extra $20 for access to 9-10 Story missions, 3 Strikes, 1 Raid, and a lot of quest chains that tied in directly with the new Taken King story content that go hand in hand with House of Wolves. Something the rest of us paid at least an extra $15-$20 for. Both Dark Below and House of Wolves were pretty directly tied into The Taken King story elements so it makes perfect sense that they would be required content to own.

But Destiny is not a free to play game. It cost $60 for the base game and $120 for the good version of that same game. With all the ill will they managed to build up I would expect some free content at the very least. Instead, they are saying "well, pay us a LITTLE more and we'll give you "free" stuff."

I can't believe people are still eating that up. After seeing what the base game had to offer I laughed every time they tried to charge for more content. I'm not paying a damn dime more.

Or you know, keep on that popular internet hobby of hating on things without reason or context.

Uh, I have context. I bought the game, I'm not happy with what I was sold and what I was expected to buy to make up for the lack of content. It's been a piss poor handling of a game and I'm a consumer who likely won't be purchasing anything from Bungie again, at least not anything labeled "Destiny".

Nice assuming though.

People are just tired of all the complaints about Destiny but the game and everything around it is just as bad as ever. The most soulless and marketingfocused AAA game of all time.

This.

I really don't understand what people saw in this game. I bought it used and played for maybe 4 hours? So fucking boring. The shooting feels fine, but god damn if that game is mind-numbingly stupid.

Is it weird/kinda gross to anyone else to have Ryan's attack/defense be the date he died? Just me? Okay I'll shut up

Nah, I think it's pretty sweet.
