Out of Comission

If there is one thing I have always thought GTA's developer Rockstar had done right is learn from the previous games. What companies such as Valve, Ubisoft, and Bungie repeatedly fail to do. But now I have learned that while Rockstar's GTA IV is a step forward, it is not as big as I originally thought.
Let me get a few things out the way first:
1. Adding last minute characters isn't a good way to structure a good plot. I am talking about characters added right before the finale. Thankfully, the main antagonist Dimitri is introduced in the beginning, but for the rest... Not really.
2. When I buy a game, I expect it to be bright enough without playing around with the brightness settings. The games dark tone adds somewhat to the feel but it was overdone. It gets pretty dark, and it is hard to distinguish between enemies and shadows.
3. Finishing the story does not mean I want to go on a 942-572987289403 bird hunt, because thats exactly what happens. Stay tuned for number four as I think i'll go on a different route.
With all this said and done about GTA4, it is still probably one of the finest games out there. As Jeff Gerstmann said San Andreas, nah.. it gets boring after the first 40 hours. Its a game that has you spending about 3 times as you would normally on a game.
This time around Rockstar does not grant you the Holyshit this is so much above a normal game, look at the par feel. I certainly came to miss that feeling when I start seeing Niko doing Gears of War stuff. Moving slowly will probably make sense for a bulk head like Marcus Fenix, but for an anorexic migrant like Niko, not so much. Okay, So here is probably my final rant abut the game. (It relates to the title), *Probably contains spoilers up ahead*
So, heres whats going down. Since the beginning of the game you hated Dimitri (I'm not going into it right now), your cousin Roman gets married. Jimmy Pegorino is very upset that you didn't go with Dimitris deal, and decides its better to shoot your girlfriend. You chase down Jimmy, you chase down Dimitri. Sounds simple, right? NOOO. the game got you running around dodging rockets, nades, police, helis... Instead of being a good ending the game decided it would be alot funner to punish you. Making it a test of patience, rather then skill.
