@do_the_manta_ray: Hello! The Bday Party Sims stream was the only Sims 4 Playdate I've ever done, the Sims Online is such a weird anomaly it almost doesn't even feel like the Sims to me, and we have literally never done a quick look for a stuff pack. You say "yet another ongoing series with [the Sims]" but Thirteen Deadly Sims was the only ongoing series of the Sims ever on the site, as far as I know. And that ended in 2018.
I appreciate you acknowledging that you're glad for more content because these streams are in no way a replacement of any of the content you listed. I'm glad you like those other features! I hope they happen, too! But me choosing to not do this Sims feature in no way impacts whether or not those streams and videos happen.
People often say that what they like about Giant Bomb is the personalities getting to play what they want. This is what I want to play! I've come up with plenty of non-Sims features like Mass Alex, Six Crazy Frights, Resident Evil playthroughs, etc. If Sims content isn't for you, I get that! I hope we have other content on the site that you enjoy! But please understand that this feature is only in addition to that other content, not instead of it.
@applegong: I see people do this calculation literally every time I do a Sims QL, but they never seem to do it with other games that have a monthly subscription cost or other ongoing payments. 🤔If you divide your calculation by the number of months the sims has been out, it comes to about $10usd a month.
These expansions aren't designed to be purchased all at once (and they often offer discounted bundles with certain packs) and even if you don't buy any expansions, you still have a full game experience with regular free updates. The way I see it, I wish more games offered me the opportunity to pay $40 every six months or so to still feel new five years after they came out.
@jeffmoocow: That's fair. I watched DitD before a lot of those accusations came to light and in my fervor to quickly write an answer, that was just the first movie I could think of that made me cry.
@luciddreams117: Keep in mind, people play games differently while streaming than they do in their free time. Huge segments of dialogue aren't always the most interesting thing to show on camera, and for a one-off playdate, it's not always the most valuable use of our time.
I like the puzzles, but I also like the story, characters, and mystery solving through information and logic.
