Oh man! This really makes me wish Vinny had finished playing Technobabylon or had the guys play with him all the way through.

@gerrid: Also: Doing so while in atmosphere, at risk of bumping into them as opposed to doing it well off into space.

I gotta say, I only played about 4 hours of KSP ever (and in career mode and only achieved orbit once with the basic rocket parts they start you with) and the fact that these guys are still struggling with some fundamental things about orbit is pretty entertaining. They still somehow think that jettisoning out in space will mess up their trajectory in any significant way, when they have to burn their engines for 10-15 seconds at a time to make any decent changes to their own orbit.

If Vinny would have started in career mode or had played the tutorials before doing these, the guys would be a lot better off... but on the flipside it wouldn't be nearly as entertaining. Looking forward to the next episode.

@quantris: People were expecting $400 because that was the high part of the range they predicted not too long ago.

Just listened to the latest bombcast; Jeff basically articulated the points I was trying to make fairly eloquently. Nobody there was expecting anything as low as $400 (the cast was recorded before the price was announced, *but* after the preorders were announced without a price).

EDIT: In case people haven't seen this already, Palmer did an AMA on Reddit which anyone interested in the Rift should probably check out (there's one post by him which answers a bunch of questions). YMMV but I appreciate his candor (I won't be jumping on VR/the Rift just yet, but maybe in a year's time...)

I mean. they aren't entirely wrong. If you were to take away the two games, the Xbox One controller, and the Oculus remote your total price-point would be hover somewhere around 400

Kerbal Project BEAST episode 4: The episode they realize the Moon rotates at a rate with it's orbit so that one side's always facing the Earth.

And here we are again for another GOTY discussion that the community is taking way too seriously.

ITT A lot of people don't listen to the podcasts to hear the deliberations.

It's just a patent which could mean just about anything. Nothing to get worked up over because there is no way of knowing what this is intended for other than just Nintendo securing ideas which a lot of companies already do.

Any person who is actually having a guttural reaction from a patent are probably over reacting a little bit.
