Rock Band, the intro into FULL family gameplay
Rock Band is one of few games to actually include the full group of friends that come over to your house, or support the full band online. Ofcourse, being one of a kind has its pros and cons.
First, gameplay. This game is extrememley smooth. It runs well, has nice transitions between menus, has a cleaner look than Guitar Hero, and focuses more on teamwork more than a SINGULAR person. It is also nice to wnat to play with friends for once. The game is definitely better in the bundle that comes with one guitar, one mic, and one drumset
Next, equipment. The guitar is funky at first, but easy to get used to. The strum bar is very easy to push with NO click, so at first you may be frustrated, but the "solo" buttons at the bottom of the neck make up for it. The drums are easy to hit, though do require some force to be accepted. Though you may like your drummer, the "accidental" hits that cause you to go back a screen or choose a crappy song are extremeley aggravating and can only be stopped by excusing the drummer for a while. The microphone is responsive ot timbre and how loud you are, but you can set the audio for your microphone,(sensitivity, loudness in game, track volume), on a menu or in a song.
Now, the songs. The song variety was a very wise decision by the developers. This is due to the experience of the gamer. Unlike Guitar Hero, the songs do not rise in whole groups of intensity. The setlists are arranged to offset eachother. This means that you may have Iron Maiden in the same setlist as The Pixies. Also, the DLC is arranged in teh same format, obvously opening the game to Novices and Pros.
Last, the Online play. Though your experience may be different, the Online play is amazing. The possibilities of setting a game of Score Duel against someone is endless, *sarcasm*. The only choice you really get is the guitar, which gets old. The online play is very similar, very cut and dry, but definitely helps your rep and Gamerscore it you need it.
Hope this review helped.
