    A FIRST PLACE KNOCKOUT!

While racing as a whole seems rather bland and uninteresting to me, -this- game truly stands out. Rock 'N Roll Racing is a fun game with more to offer than what it appears. Players start by selecting a driver from a roster of drivers, each of whom have their own attribute buffs so depending on how you want to play there is a driver for everyone (and maybe even a special one in there somewhere). Next is the vehicle select. Players choose a car, each of which also have their own specialties and a color to personally trick-out your newly purchased ride. There are 3 difficulties to choose from: ROOKIE, VETERAN, and WARRIOR. As well as difficulty, each of these options also restrict or extend the amount of gameplay/worlds the player will visit.

Each world has two divisions of races, B and A. For a player to advance from division B to division A, players must earn a certain number of points by placing 1st, 2nd, or 3rd within "X" amount of the races to advance to the next division, or to go to the next planet. However this system is actually rather nice because if the player does -not- earn the required amount of points, there is no game over. You merely restart the division you were on and still keep all the cash you've won up to that point so even if you "lose" you win. The cash you do earn can be used to buy new upgrades to your starting car (armor, tires, ammo increase, shocks, boosters, oil/tacks/mines, etc) or to buy a completely new car. The game is has very bright and vibrant colors, textures, and designs. The controls are very responsive and depending on which console you own it for there are even a few bells and whistles to the controls. If you're interested in this title, my personal suggestion would be to go with the SNES title because the L and R triggers act as a quick-turn action as well as much clearer audio compared to the SEGA title, which is awesome due to the games rock'n'roll soundtrack. As a whole, this game is a real gem and even if you're like me and aren't a fan of racing franchise games by any means, this game is actually very good and well worth the money.

    -Cheers-.
