I figured this deserved an actual topic since the news is pretty big.

The best game ever made, Rocket League, is coming free to Playstation Plus(On PS4) in both North America and Europe.

On July 7th, when the Playstation Store updates, you will be able to download Rocket League for free(As long as you have a Playstation Plus membership), along with 3 other games.

I only played the beta for a relatively short amount of time, but what I did play I couldn't put down. It was fast paced, brutal, and hilariously fun. I made some buddies through hours of friendly banter, and even made some enemies... through some not so friendly banter. I missed out on Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket Powered Battle Cars, but thankfully missing out on this title will not be an option as it is coming free for PS+ members.

It will launch on PC as well, and even have a cross-platform play option so PS4 players can Rocket their Leagues with PC players! Which is great news if you don't have a PS4, you're already starting your experience with a (hopefully) booming community.

A developer from Psyonix made a post on reddit explaining why Rocket League is coming to PS+.

I don't think we say enough how great this fanbase is. I've lost count of how many "please take my money" posts I've read. You guys are simply amazing.

PS+ Instant Game Collection has been an interesting story for us. When the great people at Sony proposed it to us a while back we thought it was a great idea. At the time we didn't know if the game was going to be successful enough for all the work we put into it and this would be a way to expose it to a larger audience. We always knew that Rocket League would be big if we could get enough people to try it.

Then...the Beta happened. With all the new hype surrounding the game it didn't seem to make sense to go forward with PS+ IGC. At this point we were pretty set to go forward with a regular release. Then Sony stepped up and told us how much they really wanted the game on IGC. They made us a solid offer and promised to really help promote the title. Coupled with the larger player base and general goodwill it spreads we decided to go for it.

With that said, our hope is still that Rocket league will earn enough to keep us busy making, well, more Rocket League. As soon as we decided to go IGC we stepped up our plans for DLC packs (and we have some very cool stuff going on there). If you are looking to support us even sooner there is also the Steam version, PS4 Theme, soundtrack, and merchandise (coming soon).

Once again, I can't thank you enough for this support. I can't wait for launch and I can't wait to play everyone here online!

Been a while (It's been a whiiile!) since I was this excited for a PS+ game. Everything I've seen about this game looks fantastic.

Rocket League is the best game of the year hands down. Witcher 3? Nope. Arkham Knight? Nope. Metal Gear Solid V? Okay well actual-JUST KIDDING, NOPE.

It's remote controlled cars in giant arenas with sentient balloons for an audience cheering you on from presumably the after life. Because this game is fucking heaven.

@viciousbearmauling: @shagge: Did you guys play the one they made last gen, I thin it was a PS3 exclusive, Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars. It was sooo good too. If you haven't you should check it out. I've been playing today since this news broke.

I fell in love with this game during the alpha and beta. So much fun. Excited to finally play more of it.

Never heard of this game but you people sure seem excited. After watching that video though, yeah this looks like it could be a hell of a good time. Does anyone know if you can play 2 player split screen online, as in play on the couch with a friend and up to six other people online?

You can play online or offline with any combination of 1 to 4 people on split screen.

The most accurate description I've heard since the game was compared to pure uncut crack.

I decided to try out the beta when it came out. I then blinked and six hours had passed me by.

This game is freaking awesome. It's possibly the most fun I've had playing a video game in a very long time. Can't wait for it to come out so I can play it again.

Somehow I had no idea about this game until a Lets Player I'm subscribed to posted a video. I'm now super interested because this game looks AMAZING.

Game seems to be out everywhere that isn't America. Can't play right now but super excited for when I get home.

Yeah I know. Somehow every other PSN got their shit together and released it at midnight, right on time.

It's a shame. I stayed up to get it downloaded early but alas, it was just not meant to be. But hey, it is for sure coming out today... Unless the PSN gets hacked or goes down for some reason...

Downloading it right now, you guys have raised my expectations quite high.

As expected, it seems they're experiencing server problems due to the amount of demand there is. Nice they have a single player in there in the meantime.

Depending on how my after work time looks hoping to grab this on steam and get a couple games in.

How are the controls? Is it loose?

The jumping mechanic takes a little getting used to, but I think it controls really well. More grip-y than slippery.

I'm hoping PSN takes its sweet time uploading Rocket League. I've got to work till 5 today and nobody should be allowed to play it before me.

owned super sonic acrobatic rocket powered battle cars for ps3 and rocket league feels like nothing more then a reskin for ps4 so not really excited for it. since i tried it enough and i diddent really find it that great. although it was fun for couch co op

Tried a single 3v3 AI match before work and it seems entertaining enough. I am sure it's better with humans though. I'll try it a bit more in depth after work but so far it was at least more entertaining than it seemed to judging by what I had seen of it.
