David Jaffe's apparently suggesting Sony sue Microsoft due to Scrap Metal's title being too close to Twisted Metal...
Not sure how much merit this lawsuit could have. I spent about 40 minutes at PAX talking to both developer's and they assured me they'd never heard of Twisted Metal, let alone had ever played the game. The reference points they brought up were classic arcade top-down racers, games that Scrap Metal more closely resembles.
Sure, there are striking similarities in a lot of Scrap Metal's ideas, but I'd wager Jaffe's envious and wishes his Calling All Cars! game would've received the same reception from critics.

EuroGamer has also published a disagreeable 4/10 review for Scrap Metal. I understand these European sites trying to emulate EDGE's success by under-rating games, but this just isn't honest.

A disagreeable review? Gasp! How dare they publish a review someone could disagree with?!
Also, David Jaffe is batshit crazy.
Jaffe's entertaining, but yeah, he seems a little touched.
I'm guessing Sony's smarter than Jaffe and won't go wasting money on losing lawsuits.
Not having heard of Twisted Metal is a bit off for a Dev though, you'd expect them to know about that,
And everyone is entitled to their own Opinion, that goes for reviewer's Opinions as well, I don't agree with all of the things that the GB crew come up with, but that is my prerogative as a consumer. Doesn't mean I don't respect them, or have a high level of respect for them though.
" Not having heard of Twisted Metal is a bit off for a Dev though, you'd expect them to know about that,I was about to say the same thing!
David Jaffe is a talentless hack who got lucky when Sony handed him God of War to direct. He's done nothing since but prove he is just that, along with spouting profanity like a little boy who just discovered the word "fuck", and thinks using it every other sentence makes him appear edgy.
He gives game developers a bad name, and he needs to go wherever John Romero went.

To cell-phone game land?

I think he would have had no problem being covered and quoted if they quoted the whole post though.
Scrap Metal looks like a budget turd of a game, even for an XBLA title. The upgrade paths are useless and the controls are silly. They literally took what was a good game idea personified in perfection in Rock n Roll Racing and turned it into a shit game because the devs who made this turd are really talentless hacks. Jaffe might be way off base with his lawsuit but Eurogamer's review is spot on.
" You honestly believe Jaffe is ENVIOUS? Get over yourself. He wasn't going off so much as when Kotaku decided to cover him and totally leave out the paragraph where it's clear it was a joke. The whole post was in jest, but apparently people like you just jump on him for nothing. "If the original article had clearly been communicated as a joke, the story wouldn't have been picked up elsewhere. If that was Kotaku's goal, to mislead their readers and portray a big industry name in return for hits, I've lost all respect for their site - but I don't think Kotaku would do that. I'm not a fan of their site or even a regular reader, but they have enough credibility not to publish misleading articles. That's all besides the point, though. If you would play both Scrap Metal and Calling All Cars, you'd understand the plausible reasoning for him to be envious.
Hey, there is a game coming out, a 3rd installment of a game franchise he created, lets make some noise and get a little free press cuz even though he had nothing to do with the 3rd game he still wants people to know he made the first one. He needs people to still think he is important after CAC's bombed, he's just pissed that God of War and Twisted Metal are the only games he is known for and he no longer works on GoW and Sony wont let him talk about the new Twisted Metal. And i don't really know where he is getting this comparison, the 2 games have nothing in common besides that they both involve cars with guns, and i'm pretty sure there were games involving cars with guns on them before Twisted Metal. Oh both games have the word METAL in the title, STOP THE PRESSES! All the interviews I have seen with the guy make him look like he is shocking and out spoken purely for the reason of being shocking and out spoken, but the only thing he ever really gets across is that he is an attention whore, and may or may not have a gnarly coke habit.
He's often going on about how much he loves nintendo and he plays xbox too, so in what way is he a fanboy? One of his recent posts:" We need to stop giving this caricature incarnate of a fanboy speaking platforms and validation, cus he's a fucking fool. "
Man, why Nintendo doesn't go ahead and open a mega theme park to rival Disney at this point is beyond me (unless there is just no cash in it). But dude, it would be SO GREAT!
