I haven't played Persona 3 yet. There, I said it. So I'm thinking hard about whether I want to get the currently available FES version or the upcoming PSP version. I'm not likely to get to playing it any time soon so how long the game may take to make it to the US isn't a factor. Which is the better choice?

Persona 3: PS2 or PSP?
It hard to vote since there no official announcement of a US or EU release. Also, please let Atlus keep the jap voice for P3P since I already have the English version in P3 FES.

"If you've waited this long, you might as well wait for P3P. On the other hand, it can't possibly add all that much and seems geared towards people who've already played the PS2 version. Plus you can grab FES for cheap -- now. "
But I had tell somebody who has never played P3 to ownly buy one version, I would say to go with FES.
though there some struff added in the psp its looking like your gonna miss out on some stuff liek a full3d environment. go for ps2. its probably worth a second playthrough anyway when the psp one comes out...if it does.
I already own the PS2 version of FES (Hell, I bought a PS2 so I could play Persona 3 and 4), and I really don't feel like picking up the same game again (not to mention buying a PSP) just so I can play as a girl.
i've always liked my games on the big screen and I when I leave I don't game on the go I drive, do what I need too do and maybe run errands than come back and play
Don't wait. Get P3 FES now and play that then pick up P3P whenever it drops and play that too. There is a connection to the characters you'll develop a lot easier when they are walking and talking on a full sized screen that I think will be diminished on the portable. P3 FES has a very epic storyline that I think should first be appreciated on a big screen to get a proper feeling of magnitude. Later on, you can have fun on the PSP and say "Geez, if the controls had been this easy the first time, it'd be the best game ever!"
The girls story sounds interesting but I think I'd always go for the home console version over the portable version.

I gave up on the PS2 version because of the idiot teammate AI. The moment I found out that they were making a PSP version AND adding the ability to control party members is what sold me on the spot.
Now I'm torn between picking up a PSP Go or ebaying an old PSP since mine died.

But that's a point that says to me "You should play Persona 3 FES first". If you decide after playing P3P that you want to go back and experience some of the stuff that may not be included, you may have trouble adapting to the AI-controlled teammates. It's the same problem with playing P4 and then going back to P3.

When teammates have specific spells they can use to weaken the enemy then they should use it. It got to be alot more frustrating on the higher levels because regular attacks had little effect. Or many other minor things that could have been fixed if I could control them.
I guess my mistake was going from Persona 4 to FES.

People will moan at you that they're bad, but they're not. ""Fine" is a good way to put it, because the AI certainly isn't optimal, but it's certainly not terrible. If you're already succeeding, it's not going to be a hindrance to you, but there may be cases where the AI just simply doesn't do what it should do, especially in regards to healing status effects. Otherwise, you can have the AI set to "knock down" and it does fairly well, but perhaps not to the best it should. It's like FFXII's Gambits, only with a set of fewer specific strategies. But adding manual control back to the PSP version is certainly telling that it wasn't all it was cracked up to be in the first place.
The ps2 version, since the psp seems like a simpler more compact version of it.
Without "The Answer" (La Respuesta in spanish), from a isiometric perspective and with a diferent gameplay, it seems a bit stripped.
But the new events they say they will add to the p3p, makes me wish i would get it.
Playing like a girl doesn't add anything up for me, as i'd probably never touch it.
I work out of a Home office and have access to all my game consoles while working; however, I do find having a PSP version to very helpful with the ability to suspend at any time. I'll pick it up because I like to be able to play conveniently during work hours when I'm caught up, which is quite often most times of the year.
