I am picking mine up tomorrow. After watching the endurance run, i am convinced that this is a game that is totally worth my time. I also want to add that if i never saw this endurance run, i would have never even heard of this gem. I think it would be great to do this with other great, fairly unknown games. I was wondering if anybody also felt the same.
Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4
Game » consists of 5 releases. Released Jul 10, 2008
Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 is a role-playing game developed and published by Atlus for the PlayStation 2. It is chronologically the fifth installment in the Shin Megami Tensei: Persona series. Like its predecessor, its gameplay combines a traditional role-playing game with elements of a social simulation. Its critical and commercial success spawned a sizable media empire, including several spinoff titles.
Has anybody decided to purchase Persona 4 due to endurance run?
I did. I'm blind to the genre, so there's no way I would have known about it otherwise. I don't regret it one bit. When I'm done, I'm going to start a new game + immediately.
I had it before the endurance run. That's right, I had it before it became all "mainstream" and "cool".
Nah, just kidding. The more fans, the better. :)
I decided to pick it up while it's cheap, but i'm going to do Persona 3 FES first simply because the idea of playing a game where I already pretty much know the first 16 hours off by heart is a bit gutting.
I would of never heard of it if it wasn't for the Endurance Run. I don't have a copy yet but it's a possibility for the near future.
I definitely didn't start playing mine until I saw some of the endurance run and really wanted to play then. A friend got it for me for christmas and since I had so many damn games already to play, I did the same thing I did with P3 after I had it...let it sit there for a really long time and nearly forgot I owned it. Once I saw the first few episodes of the endurance run I just had to start it...now I'm almost 130 hours into it and I love it.
Had it before the endurance run, but it's great to see someone else playing it. Watching it actually got me to pick P3:FES up again and start grinding away at it and I'm either heading to Digital Devil Saga or Nocturne next. Depends on how much torture I want to put myself through. Nocturne is ridiculously hard, while Digital Devil Saga's pretty rough to get into initially because the characters are so bland in the beginning.
"so i have been religiously watching the endurance run videos on giantbomb, and as a result have been inspired to play persona 4 but have some questions for people who have finished the game about the endings. Not really spoiling anything, just explaining, but warning here anyway SPOILER WARNINGso i have read in some forums and what not, that there are 3 endings total bad, normal, good, true. and i am afraid that i will not get the true ending so here are my questions: i have read that to get the true ending you have to say some certain things to yosuke on december, 3rd and then talk to all your maxed S.links, and go to the true final dungeon, is that it?are there things earlier on that can change the ending?like can you say something wrong or not do something that will royally fuck everything up later on?please let me know, i dont want to play the game i i will not be able to get the true anding just because of something i did at the beginning"
You have to go down the good/normal path to begin with, then on 12/3 Dojima just tells you to go talk to all the people you're very close to(ones with max social links, including him/nanako also, which you do last) then the game keeps saying you should get ready for tomorrow, and you just keep selecting "No" to returning to your house. Then go to Junes and select the food court from the quick travel menu, it will say "There's nothing you need to do here...." and keep selecting it and it will say "go anyway?" then everyone ends up going there and talking...and the path to the true ending starts to unfold.
I'm not gonna give you the exact answers of what to do after that since you're on the path already...unless you want to look it up yourself and spoiler it, you can do the rest yourself. Hope this helped.
Ive heard of the series before, But that was mainly because of an older On The Spot where they showed off the 3rd, and they were all talking about the whole shooting ureself in the head thing. Surprisingly enough, for that being all I knew about it or heard about it, I actually remembered the whole name.
I've been convinced to buy it because of the Endurance Run. Once I scrounge together the cash, it's the next game on my to-buy list.
Was considering purchasing once it was released but had other games on my plate and didn't really know much about it, however actually jumped on it cause of the endurance run and when Amazon had a great deal on the game for like 25 bucks. Started this Sunday and up to the Kanji Shadow fight.
I was hesitant at first since in the endurance run it took FOREVER to actually get to a point where you could battle. But i saw it a Replay for dirt cheap (I think around $22) and figured why not.
I'm glad i did because i can't remember a video game that has made me laugh so hard.
I tried it out before the endurance run so sadly my opinion was formed differently than most and that game saw a quick exit from me. I just never truly got into the game.
"Only the launch PS3s with the emotion engine, and it renders things a bit strange in the ones with the software compatibility."Only strange thing i've had is the first part where you are in the dream running it staggers a bit and the only bug it has you don't have a location bar; the lower left of the screen has the black bar but no text; but in the 41 hours or so i've played for it really hasn't bothered me just gotta remember what floor I am at in dungeons and I don't know the exact names of things until the final floor and i save there lol. Rather play with good smooth upscale then with the sloppy PS2 on my HDTV.
Endurance run got me to look at P4 as well as Atlus' other games bought Digital Devil Saga 1 and 2 and Devil Summoner 1 (pre-ordered 2). Decided not to play 3 yet until the taste of 4 is well out of my system.
If Vinny and Jeff don't finish the game, I'll probably end up buying it. I'm too invested in the story at this point to not see it's conclusion.
Only reason I haven't is because I sold my PS2 a while back. Even then, I actually did contemplate buying a PS2 just to play Persona 3 and 4. I was drunk.
