Giant Bombcast 11-15-2011

I think Patrick is a genius addition to the bombcast. He really picks up for our ever sleepy Bradley, who in the later stages of the podcast tends to become increasingly quiet and sometimes even falls asleep. Patrick however gets stronger in these times and is witty as ever and even makes the infamously boring News segment interesting with genuine enthusiasm.

This. I love Patrick on podcasts! The more the merrier, right? It's not like we have a problem of people talking over eachother.

What bugs me most about Patrick being on the podcast is his hair.

Otherwise I'm cool with it.

If Patrick is ever forced off the bombcast I will go on hunger strike until he is reinstated.

I gotta say, 5 people on a cast is pretty jumbled. I can keep them straight because I've listened for a long time, but at some point, you really start to hit the point of diminishing returns. Also, the Bombcasts have been EXTREMELY long lately. I understand a ton of new games just came out, so there is a lot to cover, but wow, 3 hour podcasts really try my patience.

Ever since Patrick has become an addition to the cast of players, the BombCast doesn't have lulls as much. All of the duder's personalities compliment the listening pleasure that floods my eardrums.

@DSale: Please never post a complaint about too much content! Some of us LIKE ridiculously long podcasts, you can just skip to the end if you like! Don't ruin the fun for us!

and what are you talking about, patience? Isn't it enjoyable to listen to them ramble about random shit?

I also have to disagree with @DSale. The longer the bombcast, the better. Also, the more the merrier.

The bombast is 100% awesome! Worth the membership fee alone.

Don't mean to join the hate train here. But I gotta say I'm not a fan of Patrick either. He talks really loud and fast, and butts into every single conversation regardless of whether he actually has anything worthwhile to contribute. Listening to the Bombcast usually has a nice relaxed flow to it, but Patrick's voice cuts through like a wave of disruption and usually leaves me with a bit of a headache at the end. Dare I say, he sometimes gives me flashbacks of a certain Miss Alexander.

He has brought some decent additions to the site with some of his writings and on-camera appearances; but sadly I'm not digging his contributions to the podcast and QLs.

Jesus you guys really need to get over yourselves -- constantly whining about anyone on the podcast if they're not Jeff, Vinny, Ryan, and Brad. 

@cyraxible: Take that back, people still whine about having ryan, jeff, vinny, and brad on the pod cast. Really we won't all be happy until there is nothing but silence for two and a half hours. In theory at least.

I think Jeff hyped up Saints Row too much it's not THAT good, but it's pretty good.

Crazy to me how much people can moan about something that is free. The bombcast is awesome, that's why I'm here.

Yeah something like Facebook's subscribe where you could mute people who you find insufferable.

I don't have anything to complain about, but bitching about people who bitch is usually more annoying than regular bitching. Sure, the Bombcast is free, and sure, it kicks infinite ass. But getting kicked in the balls is also free, and I can see how overexposure to Patrick can be roughly equivalent to getting kicked in the balls.

EDIT: And now I'm bitching about people who bitch about bitchers. I'll just go to my corner now.

What I find with these 4+ person podcasts is that it's pointless to complain about the one guy you don't like, or the person who hardly ever talks. You have to remember that a group conversation is affected by who's there. People want to talk about different things to different people they know. If somebody really does bring the podcast conversation down, the people who are actually there know it better than anyone.

I don't want to be one of the complainers, and I like it when the Bombcast is shaken up a bit and different, but I really think that they should typically only use the regular crew of four dudes and Patrick should only be on every other week or something. He's fine typically but often ends up overpowering the flow of the podcast. I've listened to every episode and I like the ones best with just the four guys.

Not to be a Patrick-hater but...yeah. He's fine typically; I just don't want him on every podcast.

In case you failed to notice, with Patrick signing on Giant Bomb's editorial voice is no longer made-up of 'just the four guys'. Instead, it is now 'the five guys'--the 'regular crew' includes Patrick, whether you like it or not.

Patrick is probably my favorite of all the guys on the bodcast... no... maybe it's Vinnie.... nooooo.... Ryan.... Jeff? Brad? The point is, they are all good at times and bad a times, but I really am glad they added Patrick and I hope he is on Every podcast from now on.

@RVonE: Patrick is most certainly the least regular of the regular guys. Also you know what he meant so stop arguing semantics and start dealing in genuine communication. It will be refreshing. I promise.

That being said I like Patrick and am glad he is part of the bombcast. He just needs to calm down and stop interrupting and forcing his voice over everyone else. The only one allowed to do that is Ryan.

My jones for more bombcast has yet to be filled. I feel the bugs closing in. They'll be all over me soon. Can't stop scratching.
