Alright Vegito! Big fan of that guy from reading his brief manga appearence. Really hoping they´re not put off by him.

From what I´ve seen of the anime, I´m not much of a fan of the stuff it adds, like with that gross part where Buu´s inside of him, and kind of wish that they´d had the time and the guts to just cut it down so that it gets as straight to the point as I remmber the manga doing.

About what Gohan said to Buu which made everyone freak out; the subtitles translate it to "You retard". Take from that what you will.

As much as they dread the idea of Kid Buu, I really feel like they'll like that climax more when good regular buu shows up while Satan fights

My subs translated Gohan's insult to "ignoramus", which yeah, I guess no matter what he just called him an idiot and that alone I guess infuriates Buu...

Like I know it's a kids show but everyone's already calling each other dumbasses for various reasons so they really didn't sell it as anything special for it to be treated with any kind of gravitas.

yes but the fact they even tried to experience the show this way or if they have been doing this in the past than its pretty disappointing. The fact the show has gotten that uninteresting to them is a tell tale sign they probably won't do Super next.

@puchiko: i think you are looking too into it. They are busy and leave not much time, so they tried to save time. They found it compelling enough to actually pay full attention to.

A small spoiler for Super but we find out that Shin and Beerus are both really bad at their jobs compared to basically every other universes' Supreme Kai and God of Destruction. That is why Shin doesn't seem to know anything and why things are so crappy in the main DBZ universe.

I've been also listening or skipping parts of the episodes, the Buu saga drags sooooo much

I hope we're all hype for the nearing inevitability of Jeff and Dan watching the original Dragon Ball series.

I can understand only listening to these episodes instead of watching. Maybe it's against the spirit of the podcast? But whatever.

Most of the Super Buu stuff is legitimately the worst stretch of Dragon Ball content besides *maybe* GT, and it's a trial to bother paying attention to it. If they gotta do other stuff to get through this mess, it's fine.

Oh boy, I would listen that in a heartbeat, at least the original DB manga is a blast.

Really hope they're into the upcoming stuff, I was pretty unsure because of how people like to shit talk the Buu arc but I thought the final stuff with Vegeta, Satan and *spoiler character*(damn you mobile) was great.

And here we come to all the endless deus ex machina's. We want Goku to fuse with Vegeta? Well, just bring them both back somehow. They don't have time to learn the fusion dance? Well the old Kai has these magic earrings. Buu needs to be powered up? Let's make our characters fucking dumb and not realize that he might be up to something, and then Gohan is clueless and doesn't see it coming the second time.

It's just too much, which is why after Z I tapped out of Dragonball for a while and waited years to start GT and the original series because it got so dumb.

In regards to godhood and Dragon Ball: The recurring joke is always that gods are as flawed and petty as normal people, and usually have fallen into their status through sheer dumb luck and some sort of bureaucratic failing.

More than some deviant art pages Jeff, more than some.

Jeff's Vegeta voice is spot on.

Man, I'd buy some subs for friends if Jeff and Dan keep going watching anime with Cowboy Bebop or something completely tonally different like A Place Further than the Universe.

Now that we're past all the fusion nonsense I'm looking forward to the end. I feel the Kid Buu fight is legitimately fun and exciting to watch.

Also the ending of the next set of 5 episodes is super rad in Kai they inserted the song Let it Burn to the part of the fight that's happening as the episode ends.

So glad we're finally through almost all of the fusion stuff, which is easily the worst part of this whole saga. The next 3 sets of episodes are all fantastic.

Jeff is right, some of the art in these episodes (particularly the Gohan fight) is top notch stuff.

The reason Vegito doesn't have that weird jacket is because the clothes Gotenks wears are the clothes worn by the race that created that fusion dance technique. Potara fusion just mixes the clothes of both people together. Oh, and Vegeta's voice comes through a little more because when the voice actors do that voice Vegeta goes first and Goku matches his lines, so Sean has to match Chris' Vegeta voice to make them mesh well. When they voice Gogeta, Goku goes first so it sounds a little more Gokuish.

I doubt they could guess where things go next if they tried. They got through Gotenks so it can only be better from here out and there's some pretty good stuff coming up involving their favourite characters. I'm gonna be real sad when it's all over.

Also when the heck are they getting Chris Sabat on here? I know that must be hard to arrange but it really needs to happen, he's such a cool dude.

They haven't, though? They said they tried it and it didn't work, that they had to then go back to watching it.

And even if though....that's just relatable.

I really don't understand all the hate for the Boo stuff. Other than the stretch of episodes in original DB starting with the Piccolo Daimao arc and lasting through the 23rd Budokai it's easily my favorite stretch of episodes in the series. I will say that the Kai version of this arc really drops the ball musically in comparison to the original JPN version though. I'll take that particular BGM, especially the recap music, over just about anything in anime.

Idk, I found some arcs of the original reaaaaal hard to get through. I think it was around the Red Ribbon Tower stuff that I started skipping through episodes a bit.

It picks back up though.

Please NOO. Its nearly unneccessary for the games and the whole reason for this podcast was to more apprechiate the games. The games are introducing characters like jiren. etc. And goku number 42

And then you...realized Deus ex machinas are integral to the series and have been since the start?

Senzu beans, magic power-up water (that was the power within you all along), magic power-up water (that seriously just powers you up), the hyperbolic time chamber ALL started in original Dragonball. To say nothing of saiyan powerups after they get beat up, Guru "unlocking" the power in Gohan (and just like Supreme Kai's powerup: it means NOTHING). Anytime someone NEEDED a powerup in short time, one just appeared. Every time.

At this point in the saga, at the point they introduce fusion, it feels intentional. Like Toriyama's either just stream-of-consciousness writing, or just making fun of himself at the point we get the DIFFERENT fusions.

I like this remaining final run of episodes a whole lot. Felt like DBZ's last 3 seasons had some of the highest highs in the series. Kai dropping Gotenks would've been a service, but the ending felt climactic as hell to me.
