Another awesome episode! As the end of Kai draws near, I too would like to recommend Dragonball Super as the best option should the anime experts move forward. Three reasons why this is so:

1) The podcast is titled All Systems Goku, so it won't make sense to switch to a non-Dragonball anime.

2) The podcast was started by Dragonball FighterZ, and to recognize all the characters and references in the video game by editors of a website about video games, Dragonball Super is the way to go.

3) It would be interesting to know the perspectives of Jeff and Dan who watched Dragonball Z relatively recently go to Super, in contrast to most people watching Super with nostalgia for a series last aired nearly two decades ago.

P.S. A Film & 40s watch of Dragonball Evolution with Papa Vinny would be amazing.

P.P.S. Including Alex in that Film & 40s as someone with absolutely zero interest in the franchise would be hilarious.

He was but it just so happened that Jeff was in New York at the time I'm pretty sure. I don't think they were like skyping in together or anything.

If you guys do watch Dragon Ball: Evolution, PLEASE do it as a commentary track we can listen to while we watch (similar to RiffTrax or Kevin Smith's Batman commentary).

P.S. Trunks' jacket is a military style, not denim.

I feel like a viewing of Dragon Ball Evolution, would probably require them to watch some of the original Dragon Ball, as it's entirely an "adaptation" of that material.

In regards to Buu killing dead people. The premise is a lot simpler than it seems, and Dan & Jeff seem to be overthinking it. You die, you go to the after life; however if your soul gets killed again (very rare, but Buu is that strong) your soul ceases to exist and not even the Dragon Balls can bring you back.

Doing Dragon Ball Evolution sounds super uninteresting. I'd really prefer they do Battle of the Gods and Resurrection of F in either this format or film and 40s and then decide if they want to watch super after that or go to DB.

I really hope they end up going back to OG Dragon Ball after finishing Kai.

"Pirate show", huh? I guess it's too bad there's no such thing as One Piece Kai (One Pace doesn't count), I'd really want to hear them talk about how they absolutely DID NOT cry for a goddamn boat sometime in the future.

If they watch original Dragon Ball next, I'm down. I've never seen it before and would love to watch along with them. It makes more sense to watch Super first. Just keep continuing the story. And then they can watch the Broly movie that ever says good things about.

Makes the least sense to watch another anime. How many people have been good about guessing which parts of *this* show they'd actually like and not like? I don't really know what I'd recommend to them.

Edit: The point about the English dub not yet being finished is a good point though. If they go original Dragon Ball first that should be enough time to finish dubbing Super.

(I purchased up through what Amazon calls "Season 4" at some point last year because of this podcast. And then finished the rest subbed on CrunchyRoll. Amazon's done three more thirteen episode "seasons" since then. )

Imo the Broly film was largely mediocre, except for a pretty decent Saiyan backstory and a very cute characterisation of Broly, but I can see them giving that a shot as an epilogue to Super (unless by the time they've gotten to that point they've made it the next Super arc or something).

Idk if the Battle of the Gods one isn't a bit redundant if they do intend to move into Super though; I've yet to see it myself but hearing it's more or less the first 14 or so episodes doesn't feel like it'd be worth it just to redo it shortly after.

I hate to do this, but I can't think of a community who'd love this fanfiction more - it's called VegetaBall Z and is what happens if you made Vegeta fuckin cool to the max, and made goku the little lame bitch that he is. I didn't write it myself, but just help spread the word.

I was thinking that Super makes the most sense, but the fact that Super isn't fully dubbed yet is a good reason to go with original Dragon Ball first. The dubbing should be done by the time they finish, and then they can start with Super.

(I'm just estimating. I didn't watch Super until I started listening to this podcast. Amazon only had the first four thirteen episode "seasons" at that time. Looks like they have up to the seventh season done now. They should be done with the dub in three more seasons.)

With all the cameos in the next batch of 5 episodes, I really want them to do OG Dragon Ball just so I have a good reason to go back and watch OG Dragon Ball.
