The people who say "You think you want it, but you don't" about WoW Classic are making fun of the guy who literally told thousands of fans that at a Blizzcon in response to a question about if it was possible. As someone who played WoW Classic recently, I am very much looking forward to it compared to BfA garbage. If I could get Wrath or even Mists era WoW that would also work

A+ thumbnail, Jan.

@rorie That Tommy Lee Jones video isn't for his 30th anniversary doing those commercials. He's actually only been the Boss Coffee guy since 2006. The video instead was commemorating the end of Japan's Heisei Era, which ended on April 30th of this year, and lasted 30 years (this might explain your misinterpretation). May 1st was the beginning of the Reiwa Era. Change in Era is a big cultural occasion in Japan that's celebrated like an extra special New Years.

https://soranews24.com/2019/04/30/tommy-lee-jones-cries-says-sayonara-to-the-heisei-era-in-epic-new-boss-coffee-commercial-%E3%80%90video%E3%80%91/

In an oversimplified nutshell, Japan's Era calendar system assigns commemorative names to the periods of time under a specific emperor. The Heisei Era, which just ended, corresponded to the reign of Emperor Akihito, starting in January 1989. He voluntarily adbidacted his throne and his son has replaced him as the new emperor, and hence we are now in the Reiwa Era.

Also been reading it, though I play Magic, but I find it interesting that you came to this as, I'm assuming, someone who hasn't played before.

@icedmetal57: I've played a few times, but I never got that into it. It is definitely interesting looking at it now and knowing what most of the cards from this expansion are referring to.

Rorie you're not stopping the the AI from learning, it learns when you try to "mess" with it as well. Just like humans do as we often learn more from our mistakes.

Also I can see why you guys would think there is some trickery going on behind the scenes but if they programmed it how I think they did then it's perfectly normal for it to guess before you think it should.

I'm guessing that there is a limited number of items that it can guess maybe a few thousand and I'll use the Mona Lisa as an example. It probably doesn't have more then a handful items that would look like a framed painting and even less that would be a famous painting. So if you knew all the possibilities that could be drawn you could very easily narrow it down to the correct one. Just like the calculator It probably only has a few items that would have rectangles in rectangles so it would be pretty easy for it to guess.

This is just my hypothesis on this and I could be totally wrong but I would think they would start it off small so it has a good data set to build off of. They will probably add more items/ more complex items as it gets smarter.

This scares and fascinates me at the same time.

So not sure if Ben will see this message but I wanted to thank him to finally getting me to check out Barry through his tweets basically praising the last few episodes. I watched it and it was awesome. I hope if Ben sees this and goes heck yeah someone watched Barry he may take my suggestion to watch Crazyhead on Netflix and so should everyone else. It is a british show about 2 girls who can see demons and is absolutely hilarious.

Finally getting some Magic the Gathering Arena coverage. I'm so excited to see and hear more from Rorie and the rest of the crew.

@rorie If you wish to dive deeper into the meta or just deck building overall, I highly recommend using a site and a tool called MTGA Pro.

On the site you can look up all kinds of decks, both import and export decks between the site and the game. And with the downloadable tool running running in the background you can automatically export your current collection to the site and search for decks that both matches your collection, but also see possible decks if you'd choose to spend wildcards. You can also look up match history, and see all the cards that were played in specific matches, and with that data see if there are any builds that matches the cards of you opponent.

It's a very neat tool if you wish to dive deeper into the MTGA.

I could be wrong but the AI isn't so much guessing the image based on an existing pool of data but pooling all the submitted images that have been drawn based on the crude circles and squares people will obviously attempt to draw for a portrait of the Mona Lisa. It would be stranger and more impressive if the questions asked were to draw a handful of different portraits from different artists.

If it asked to draw a dozen different types of long handled gardening equipment or maybe a eight different types of four wheeled vehicles I imagine we would not be seeing he same results. Unless the artist is much more detailed with their drawing I assume it will have a harder if not impossible time determining a happy face in a box between the Mona Lisa and Van Gogh's self portrait. I would not be surprised if this particular AI will now see everything with a circle framed within a square as an acceptable equivalent of the Mona Lisa.

@grandcurator: having played wow off and on since vanilla i wouldn't hesitate to tell most people that. vanilla wow was super cool in a lot of ways, but it moves at a sluggish pace and requires hours to do things that are now condensed into 15-20 minutes. i think people want the sense of wonder and discovery they once had -- i don't think they want to spend 2 hours to do a single run of razorfen kraul.

that being said i'm still interested in checking it out, because i dearly miss pre-cataclysm azeroth.

There isnt and never will be another card game better than Magic The Gathering.

I've been playing Magic since 1994 so I definitely am going to have to try out Arena. It looks super polished. I spent a lot of time downloading the old deck builders in the late 90s and early 2000s which didn't even have art so it never felt like Magic the same way as tapping an actual card does. This looks amazing since the planeswalker games never felt good enough due to the fact they never had full sets of cards just a spattering of what they wanted you to use. I just dunno about the cost of Arena though, it seems expensive like any CCG to get a good deck built to actually get to a point where you can win online since I assume that is the best way to win cards without spending money.

It will have to wait though because I'm still having lots of fun with Rage 2. Barely touched the main story campaign and enjoy clearing outposts and getting upgrades as I go.

Android: Netrunner. I'll fight anyone over this. ;)

(The OG Netrunner was a blast, too, and - fun fact - was also created by Rich Garfield, the fellow who created MtG).

Seconded. The audio for GBW streams has sounded bad for a while now, I turned this off at the auto chess section because the yelling was just rough.

I have to correct Ben on the usage of Pringles--in the "Mahvel Baybee" video Yipes is not saying that the Magneto doing the combo was Pringles, but rather the one getting comboed was Pringles, because his defense broke easily, like Pringles do. Justin Wong confirmed this definition in this interview.

I think Rorie is misunderstanding the AI thing.

It's not identifying the actual Mona Lisa, or whatever object, based on your drawing. It doesn't know what the Mona Lisa is. What it knows is that everytime it prompts a human to draw the Mona Lisa the result is the same generic human shape in a rectangle.

So to the AI that IS the Mona Lisa, which is how it correctly identifies the drawing.

It's literally like teaching a child. You tell a child what a dog is enough times they'll be able go proudly proclaim "Dog!" when they see one.

Similarity if you teach a kid the a dog is a "Cat"; A - you're an asshole and B - they'll incorrectly, but "correctly", identify dogs as "cats". Just like how generic face in frame = Mona Lisa. It only knows what it's been told.

Over time, with enough samples, the AI will be able to differentiate between these simple shapes and the actual Mona Lisa. But it takes time.

Quickdraw works because it's feeding those same words to other people. When it can't guess what you were drawing, it feeds it back in, and then your awful shitty drawing can be matched up with someone else's awful shitty drawing. The AI can guess what it is because someone else drew something equally terrible. You can go in and click on each one after and see how it matches them up.

I checked out that Red Tides game and spent like 6 hours (with breaks) playing it. It's fun, but doesn't seem very well balanced and has a lot of RNG. You pick mechs and then you win. But I like it. I'll probably play more.

Probably too late for Jason since he already moved to PC but on PS4, installing Monster Hunter World on to an SSD cuts those loading times to very normal 10-15 seconds. Not very expensive if you go small. I have it on a 250GB SSD in a USB 3.0 enclosure.

These shows are hard to watch sometimes. This week, all I heard was attitude being thrown back and forth. In an attempt to help with that, I wanted to point out what seems to cause a lot of it, at least on camera.

Rorie! I love you. The excitement and energy you bring to these streams is sometimes very needed. I would suggest maybe letting the person answer you before asking 15 additional questions. So many times this week, you would ask a question, and interrupt the answer almost immediately with another question. Let them answer man!

Ben! You are also awesome! It is also acceptable for Rorie to not know everything that you guys do on the site. Remember what his job is. He is not in all of the shows you guys do, and probably doesn't have time to watch everything considering he is helping all of us with the issues we have with the site, or billing issues during a premium sale. It sounds like a busy time, and that would make it difficult to keep up with the site if you are not part of the majority of content. I know it can be irritating when someone asks you a question then interrupts your answer, but it seemed like you were just finding reasons to throw attitude toward him outside of those interactions.

Of course, I could be reading into things, and I do not claim to be some magic internet video psychologist, but it really does negatively affect my enjoyment when watching these shows. It can't be 100% sunshine and rainbows, but I also don't want to watch you guys just be dicks to each other the entire show. I have been on this site since day 1, and had premium since the very beginning (with a small gap because yay between jobs). I don't participate in this community as much as I used to, but I wanted to voice heard at least.

Keep up the amazing work you guys do!
