I really think the extreme prices of "collectables" is not around people wanting to feel good. This is a .01% super rich group wanting to say they own things. It's the same as the idiotic prices on NFT. All of it couldn't show the wealth disparity any better.

I can also now see a huge amount of these hitting the market and crashing the entire concept. Every family is going to send their collections to a rating system so they can try to get rich on them.

coming from the comic world I don't think the grading companies ever show their process... they like to keep it hidden (and many people have some real questions about the ugly side of how they make money.)

There are instances where the auction house is involved in making sure that certain sales generate a mediabuzz by cranking up the auction prize on a landmark item. They have a vested interest in making people know that they should bring their rare games up for auction.

I regret backing the VCS. However, I do have "access" to the VCS founders server in discord. Here are some interesting things of note about this server:

1. There hasn't been a new member to the server since 4/7/2021
2. Popular channels: hardware-upgrades, pc-mode-linux, pc-mode-windows, issues-booting-to-atari-os

Also I spent $218 on it, and haven't booted it up since the first few days, which included hours of flashing the bios so I could install the latest update.

I hate to crap all over it, but for a system sold as 'Atari's return to gaming!' it makes me sad.

The last two podcast episodes have had bursts of loud keyboard clacking. I'm assuming it's coming from Jean-Luc, considering he's the only new factor here. Not a very pleasant thing to hear when you're listening to people talk.

E1 Boat Racing looks fuckin dope! They haven't revealed any physical boats just digital models but they look like something straight out of Wipeout. They are calling the boat the RaceBird, E1 Series even put out like a playable video game like demo for their boat called The RaceBird Game. Maybe next UPF? The game looks kinda bad but like it's kinda cool that it's like real? I dunno maybe I'm easily impressed lol.

A very enjoyable conversation about beer at the end. I think Bakalar represents that person in every group who over thinks beer and annoys the hell out of all of his friends.

@daveo42: I'm from the UK and instant coffee is absolutely fine and drinkable if you're not a coffee obsessive. I don't get the snobbery about it, and unless the "proper" stuff is from a *golden* source, I really don't see how it can be that much better than the instant stuff.

I think something that a lot of people that are outside of the craft beer community don’t realize is that there are a ton of craft beers that are just regular ass beers but don’t taste like ass like a Bud or Michelob. Go out and find a good session lager or something and give it a try, it’s great. The fact is that in the US before prohibition there used to be a ton of small breweries that were crushed and the companies that came in afterwards took over large parts of market share with piss poor beer and everyone got used to it.

The beer argument in this episode is truly something special
