I'm sure this announcement was in the works for a bit, but it seems pretty shitty to announce all the new staff without really acknowledging what just happened.
I love all the new staff, but WTF guys??

Ought to love how much Dan was into the food and drink talk. Looking forward(?) to seeing him throw up on stream at some point.

I also gotta agree with this. I'm on board with what's happening here and it sounds exciting and fun, but this is all we're getting regarding Jeff? One article saying he's gone that immediately pivots to talking about the team, and another of the exact same message on the bombcast? The same one he was on for 14 years? C'mon. The way this messaging has been handled makes me feel we're fortunate all his content hasn't been scrubbed from the site yet.

Toot the whistle twice if you want to say more about Jeff's departure but can't because of reasons.

Somebody create a filter that makes Jan’s opening speech have Optimus Prime’s voice because that was pretty goddamn good IMO. I have suffered through a couple decades of “c’mon team, we got this!!” speeches in my career and almost nobody has had the heart he put into that.

You sons of guns, you pulled it off. I am excited about the site for the first time in years.

Big loss with Jeff but i'm so glad Dan is back he cracks me up.

Woah losing the Vektroid theme? Weird. That seemed like a big get but I guess also seems like big Jeff Gerstmann energy too. End of an era.

Let my yearly sub lapse for financial reasons... Then just never got around to subscribing the last few months. Definitely re-subbed for the return of Dan Rykert!! I am going to miss Jeff, but I like this whole crew, and I know they can deliever good content!

Sad to see Jeff go, but this is an incredible cast of people who are more than qualified to pick up the torch, really looking forward to the future of Giant Bomb :)

What the actual F. I understand one man alone doesn't make and produce a website/shows/podcasts etc but for me specifically Jeff G is Giantbomb and Giantbomb is Jeff G. Jan was the last good hire that fit in and had a cadence that fit with the show who'd allow people to finish sentences and be articulate. I never comment on a single thing here despite listening for X amount of years but have now only to express what a massive L this is. For years and years Jeff's tales of energy drinks and fast food have kept me entertained for what must be 1000s of hours of busses and trains to and from work. I know it couldn't last forever and corporate overlords might be at play here but the man should have had a send off if circumstances allowed. Dan R coming back is essential but it's not enough for me. Really hoping he starts up something new or continues on another pod. I honestly do not like this current line up if that's ok to say here. I'm old and crusty, I like the old stuff.

Well, that is how you rally.

Okay, finally got a chance to watch this, one of the few times I've watched the premium video version of the Bombcast rather than just listening to it. I'm stoked, but:

There's really no getting around how insanely impersonal that article felt. When people leave GB, whatever was done on-stream or in writing about them was always a celebration of who they are, what they brought, and where they're going, and all of those things could've been done for Jeff without violating any sort of privacy concerns. That article was none of those things. It was bad.

That being said: I really like this group of people. I think Tam, Lucy, Grubb, everyone has been doing great work on this site since they started being prominent hosts in guest shows and making them a part of the core group makes a whole lotta sense. I'll definitely be here going forward and excited to see what comes next.

And thank you for solidifying Rorie as part of the core group. He always has been to me, but it's nice to see him mentioned as such.

I admit the lack of any sort of fanfare or farewell pod / upf felt strange, especially with how big of a prescence Jeff G is within Giant Bomb as a co-founder, that said I respect wishes were upheld.

With that out of the way I see this crew as a great future for Giant Bomb, many of the features have been fun as hell and everyone has a fun dynamic with eachother.
Lots of exciting teases for upcoming shows, I'm into it.
