I had an issue with my Razer keyboard and the issue goes away when Synapse is closed. So try that @jeff.

I got a bit further in the discussion and when Jeff mentioned "row of slashes" I had the EXACT issue with my Razer Blackwidow V3 (Yellow Switch - linear). Try it without Synapse running. I can almost guarantee it'll go away

Jan & Jeff B's friendship is too pure. And Jeff's keyboard segment was extremely good, not something I've ever get into but I love hearing Bakalar talk about it

The most recent Igorrr album is actually really great, one of my favorites from last year. Big recommend.

I had a razor keyboard a while back and initially I thought I was dropping keystrokes, but over time I realized that it was the same key(s) that were dropping. Turns out the switches they used for that keyboard were trash. I switched to a wooting two and have been happy with it removable switches and all.

Bakalar I'm sorry to say but you need to lose that hat.

I think Jeff B underestimates the suddenness of how quickly things can go bad if you're not expecting that stuff, especially in settings like a pool where a bathroom maybe isn't that close by.

I’m with Jeff G about the weed thing. I’ve never had the desire or curiosity to do it. It also smells like burning garbage on a tire fire with a deceased skunk roasting over all of it.

God, hearing the keyboard talk is so validating. BELIEVE ME I KNOW BEING IN GROUP BUYS IS NUTS! But I paid aftermarket for one GMK set and I don't plan on doing that shit again. It doesn't help that my partner got into it almost as much as I did, gahddamn quarantine hobbies. Also, definitely hit us with GB keycap IC!

I had almost exactly the same experience as Bakalar.

When my dad passed away, my mom sat down with me and said, essentially, "your dad was a pothead your entire life and hid it from you." A couple times I had found seeds or stems in the carpet and thought hmmm, but just assumed I was wrong. In any case, she gave me his "stash." And it was mason jars going back like 15-20 years full of the remnant of ditch weed he bought from some neighbor -- absolute garbage, just total dirt weed. No smell, no nothing. I think Mom expected me to be disappointed in him or something. But I was just so sad that I never got to smoke with him, that I never got to get him good weed so he actually had some kind of experience with it. And that he felt like he had to hide it from me.

Anyway, that story got me in my feelings for a while. Thanks, JeffB and all the rest of GB.

@jeffbakalar@jeff I'd say the most mainstream "custom" split keyboard is probably the Ergodox. I think they're pretty consistently in stock and they have a bunch of configuration options (colour, LEDs, switches).

Pretty pricy but it might be one of the best to get if you don't want to deal with soldering your own board, group buys, getting someone else to build a kit, etc.

2. The MGA Standard from Sneakbox Designs is a split-style ergo board that is in stock in a few colors. This would give Jeff a split board, but about $350 for all parts
