i hate the graphics, and survival/crafting games in general, but there really is something interesting about the mechanics of this game, at least to watch.

Thank you Jan for being director and guide to this, because of that this is some primo full screen GB content. I want more of this as soon as possible.

This game is so great, I always want to keep playing it.

I've been having fun exploring and charting the map while my friends who like the building and forging aspects are elsewhere doing that, then we collaborate to accomplish big goals together.

I hope you continue this, perhaps it can replace Let's Minecraft Together (maybe alternating weeks for people who don't like that) if you lot get into it.

Edit: It's a shame when such a dodgy spawn makes the game seem so hard. You're just supposed to set up in the Meadows and not encounter trolls until later, build up your stuff, get comfy with the game, improve your fighting skills. I haven't finished it yet but I hope it doesn't put them off.

I have friends who play like Brad and go off on their own instead of sticking in a group. I always find it confusing because why play multiplayer if you're not going to take advantage of being a group?

@overcookedturkey: I don't understand those arguments when the gameplay is good. At some point, the graphics can be given a pass if it plays really well.

I am not a fan of survival games but this one has grabbed me. There are things to drive the loop and do much to explore. The hunger and crafting aren’t annoying and encourage exploration. I already have 4 badly built house because I keep getting into a new place and don’t want to run back too far when it gets dark. I beat the first boss around day 30 I think and was able to explore the Dark Forrest early on once I got good enough gear. Marking things on your map is really useful. I can’t quite place it but there is just something about this game and satisfying loops.

5 minutes in you have a troll on your house. What a disaster! This game is incredibly forgiving but you seem to have setup in the worst area and keep griefing yourselves by kiting trolls back to base.

Fun times.

@bladeofcreation: it kind of reminds me of RuneScape in a way. I’d hope it not looking as good as other stuff in the genre would help performance at least. Just out of curiosity what’s the last thing you’ve seen with huge gaps in quality?

the game is a lot fun, i like it a lot when playing with a group of friends, building a base and expanding out and exploring is the most fun, visually the game has to be played and witnessed in person, because in motion its gorgeous, at times it can look like breathe of the wild, and when sailing it can look a lot like sea of thieves with the water tech, its got a pretty voxel like look that sometimes reminds me of runescape.

I really like seeing you guys play chill games together. The Minecraft series was great, its what i signed up for now that i think about it. I'd love to see another MC series of videos or something like this with some sort of progression. For me, watching Jeff play games like racing games is hard to enjoy.

Also, this game has the look of Dragon Age Origins ( damn i love that game). The deep ambient occlusion shadows and somewhat flat looking textures.

I also love how vinnys main prerogative is repairing stuff. Those escapist video games!

Finally: you can tell from their commentary alone how this game evokes exploratory excitement (and frustration). There are only few games today that can Actually make exploration feel exiciting and not very predictable.

@bladeofcreation: That quality is what they are aiming for. They are going for an early 3D game, without texture filtering, look. It looks weird when it's combined with more modern lighting and post-processing. Especially the lighting, the lighting can make some textures look better than they actually are which makes things look inconsistent. The game probably looks better if you play it with a low resolution.

I'm surprised how divisive the look of this game has been, but then I always loved the aesthetic of combining old graphical styles (pixel art, low-poly 3D) with modern lighting, particles, and post-processing, so maybe this is just very my shit.

You're right about how divisive it is! I love the lighting but it's tough for me to get excited about playing a game if I don't like how my character looks and animates.
