Crazy, I was just watching an Old Games vid earlier today and was thinking how there hadn't been one for a while. Thanks for this Jeff, very excited!

For anyone wondering, yes, this is appears to be the archive of the second half of Jeff's Dec 16 twitch stream, where in the first part he played the Gunk. That part was already put up on the site back then.

I don't think I ever realized the first Gex was 2D. Huh. I guess I only ever played Enter The Gecko as a kid.

So kinda crazy. I just watched the new Ghostbusters movie and she told the same bad grasshopper joke in the movie that the mystery guys did for the game.

Oh man, I played so much of the first 2 GTA games.

It's so frustrating that you can't buy them anymore. Rockstar removed them from Steam and stopped offering them as downloads on their own site. I don't understand it, I assume it's some licensing issue.

this is currently my favorite type of GB content, jeff looking at old weird (usually bad but not always) stuff. I'm sure nostalgia is part of the appeal for me but also ive become increasingly curious about old games that did very adventurous/inventive things (for better or worse) before certain "good practices" of game design were crystalized like "never put gex in a game"

There's an achievement for watching the entire introduction cutscene in Zero Wing. The Retroachievement people are doing God's work.

I played and completed Gex and Grand Theft Auto for the first time this past year. Unfortunately as was highlighted here, they aren't particularly great. Also I've been very impressed by duckstation for PS1 emulation

Seeing Off-World Interceptor Extreme will never not melt my brain. They took their own doofy FMV game and somehow made it way worse by layering on this phoned in MST3K schtick on top during the production. Madness.

Crystal Dynamics must have had the idea for the MST3K bit and at a certain point it was too late to back out right? They couldn't have thought these riffs were actually funny and worth putting into the game right?!

OMG, The Horde. I loved that game! "I was just standing there, admiring cow...mmm... cooooww...then, Ka-WHOOSH!" I still use that line sometimes.

I cannot get over how awful it looks now, I also recall playing Gex on the 3DO and thinking this is not nearly as good as Super Mario World. Fun Memories, Thanks Jeff..

I feel the same way, I bought a new TV this year, and HDR looks terrible no what how much I tweak it.

Just to add that I also had no idea the first Gex was a shitty 2D platformer. The only Gex I know is a shitty 3D platformer.

I thought it couldn't get better than Doug Benson and Brian Posehn doing MST3K over an FMV game. Then Japanese Kirk Cameron swooped in and stole the crown.

1) Not as funny as I was hoping

2) The audio mixing between the commentary and the video makes it impossible to hear what the original audio was supposed to be (and what they are making fun of)

3) Did Brian Posehn go through puberty since recording this?
