All Systems Goku 08

All things considered, the Frieza saga would've been a good end point because it neatly ties up all of the new space elements introduced with the arrival of Raditz (and all the retcons about Goku and Piccolo's history). Then they just come back to Earth and I always felt that all subsequent saga were kinda dumb bullshit that was filling time. They bring back Frieza for all of 3 seconds, then the Android Saga is one of the weakest sagas in the whole series and they're really unimpressive villains compared to Frieza, intergalactic world conqueror. Cell is a decent arc and he's actually a pretty solid villain, but then everything after Cell's death is just kinda dumb.

This batch of episodes were the first ones that felt draggy to me since I started watching along and I’m sorry to report that it only gets worse through the next couple of batches. I have a feeling that Jeff isn’t going to enjoy these few as much as he had been. A bunch of cool stuff sure does happen though.

Holy hell Dan and Jeff have found a way to watch this show that every week ends on a killer cliff hanger. Last week Frieza shows up, this week Goku gets out of the chamber.

Wait did Jeff say "Stands" not Personas?

I remember the comments of a JoJo's game being veeery salty that they hadn't seen this then obscure anime OVA from the 90s and didn't know Stands came first etc.

Also they've explicitly said they've zero intention of watching JoJo's after the dirge of anime fans gave a tidal wave of unsolicited recommendations.

Can't comment on the rest of that particular dub, since I haven't seen it, it may just be awful as you say. But faithful to the original Japanese lines or not, that dumb line is just...well...Mondo Cool in my opinion.

@sevith: You're right, I don't remember the Buu saga :>. The Buu stuff is where I tapped out, and I didn't actually know that the series ended there until years later. I figured it just went on forever.

I haven't noticed them post in the comments, and their references to the comments are mostly "hey those comments sure are full of nonsense that we aren't going to engage with" but whatever dude, my bad. Pretty sure the comments on this series have so far been absolutely loaded with spoilers about things that matter more than a 45-second B plot so I'm really not sure what the big deal is here.

At this point they're tossing grenades at the trolls who kept telling them how to watch the show by mis-pronouncing Freeza. Innocents are already in the cross-fire might as well make it a rocket launcher.

So Dan likes the silly stuff and the screaming while powering up. That's literally everything Kai cuts out.
