@something_clevar: Agreed, though the same block of episodes is also when Vegeta gets beat down by Perfect Cell, so even if they end up thinking it is SSJ2 at first, they will know before they finish that that is not the case, as they will very likely (rightfully) think that there would be a little more to it if it was actually SSJ2 based on how big of a deal SSJ1 ended up being.

@something_clevar: I guess I'm just less worried about that because they have shown a remarkable resilience to what we might generously call "fan input" in the past. They certainly didn't let anyone ruin Goku's first transformation or Vegeta's first transformation for them. I think we can guarantee that when Vegeta fights Imperfect Cell and kicks his ass these comments will be chockfull of people getting all particular about the details of what exactly that transformation is called, as will their twitter mentions and whatever else. I just am optimistic that it won't affect their enjoyment of the upcoming moments.

Oh fuck me I forgot all about the hyperbolic time chamber. I can't wait for Jeff and Dan to have a full conversation about what they would do with a room like that.

Honestly thought this week's wasn't happening either because it wasn't showing up on the schedule like it usually does.

I often give filler scenes a hard time here for being timewasting, goes-nowhere, repetetive, terrible scenes. So I just wanna say: besides how it ends with Piccolo and Tien losing sight of an enemy just a few meters in front of them, that scene Krillin gets at the end where he saves this woman and her kid on the plane from Cell is fucking cool. Actual best filler right here. Might be Krillin's most heroic scene in all of Dragon Ball! I loved that little fight.

I love Jeff's takes on all these things, and I continue to dream about someone editing all these podcasts with at least video stills of what they're discussing and uploading them to YouTube.

I was really aching to do that but turns out mkv. files are a tough nut for video editing software to crack so it'd be a huge time investment to get editable episodes (essentially you'd have either go through suspect third party conversion software or record the screen while watching it, or, if you're super lucky, find mp4 files somewhere).

Half of the usual amount of comments this week. What happened? Everyone forgot this was back?

@supersonic1305: I'm sure the Memorial Day holiday had a significant impact, but this also wasn't the most eventful set of episodes.

The type of time travel Jeff is expressing to like better near the beginning of the cast would only be possible if the story were focused from the time travelers perspective.

@chaser324: Also they keep having breaks unintentionally on what is one of their most successful show. Real bummer when your most successful stuff is also something your not totally into. Not saying they dont like it but dbz can be a drag if you have to push through the filler without kid eyes watching it while doing your homework and eating snacks after school each day.

Curious if they will note the differences about Super Super Saiyan, Hyper (Huge muscle) Super Saiyan and Super Saiyan 2. Cause that shit gets confusing, as a kid you barely notice that stuff, you just want them stronger. The only diference i note from SSJ1 to SSJ2 is usual sparks of lightning during the KI charge.

I watched this show dubbed in my native language, and i would say they did a fantastic job for Cell's bug form, cause they got the bug noises of the original jpn nicely done.

Cell is great, his motives kinda suck, but imo he has the best design of DBZ except his 2nd stage after *you know*

Idk why, if it's my settings or what, but it never makes it into an editable mp4 file, but idk, maybe I'll figure it out eventually and do something, no guarantees.

@wildaggro: I liked the way it started, it felt like Super was getting better and it had so much potential to be great. But between the random new powers Goku Black got, the awful design of "half melted" merged Zamasu and that ending with one of the biggest and dumbest ass-pulls in the series history, I'll have to agree with you that most of it was terrible. Like, holy crap everyone suddenly can make swords and scythes and blades come out of nowhere.

Hmm I guess they lost that mailbag episode?

The way that special relativity affects the subject passage of time in no way shape or form allows what anyone would consider "time travel" in the real universe. The preservation of causality is one of the fundamental axioms from which the whole theory was constructed. There are no time loops, there are no branching timelines. It's all one single stream marching forward, and everything is consistent even if a day of subjective time somewhere in high gravity or at a high velocity is the equivalent of years outside of a gravity well or at a lower velocity.

Thanks. edited my garbage away. So effectively their is not a possible time travel senerio in real life. Just out of curiosity. what do you consider is the best type of time travel...or plausible one. Harry potter book 3 vs dbz vs marvel movies etc.

@jume1989: No, no time travel in real life. At least as far as we know.. anything is technically possible but the preservation of causality is currently fundamental to our physical theories.

I like DBZ style time travel where different timelines are generated every time someone travels backwards in time. It is the most logically consistent. Harry Potter style is also pretty decent, but it kind of strips the characters of free will / agency. If everything that happens has to happen in the exact way it is currently happening, and the time travel actions already were a part of the story at that point in time, then the characters are restricted in what they can and can't do while time travel is happening. It can make events feel somewhat contrived and hokey, like when Harry's patronus is the one he saw earlier in the book.

I love that imperfect cell talks like a old Yakuza guy in the japanese dub.
