This looks pretty fun. Is it the last AC before Origins? The music reminds me a little of the music from Vampyr (which also takes place in London, after WW1).

"Experiencing" a game like tlou by watching its cutscenes is a waste of time. A game might have long cutscenes but it is still a game, and you miss out on a lot by skipping the gameplay. What you miss out on is hard to define, but the experience is very different. Imagine "playing" tlou2 and skipping certain boss fights. It's better to just skip the game altogether than to make it dirty like that (and wasting your time for that matter).

@theonewhoplays: yah it’s the last one of the “old” format before the new trilogy began.

@theonewhoplays: Wow, that's surprising to hear. I haven't played it myself, but it always seemed like the story was still a big focus, so it's strange that the cutscenes are so worthless.

@theonewhoplays: no it’s fine i got the value of its story just watching a cutscene compilation.

A game's narrative is an amalgation of the cutscenes and gameplay, with inactive and active participation from the player. I strongly believe you miss a lot of what makes the game special by only watching cutscenes, i.e. the connection to the characters that build up with you controlling them. This even with heavily story focused games like Until Dawn. It's what separates games from movies. Sure, you can get the game's plot from the cutscenes, but you will be missing out. That's what I think. There is no real comparison, but when I have watched a game's cutscenes with no gameplay or context, I've found the experience hollow - not exactly like, but similar to "experiencing" a movie by reading the wiki (perhaps while listening to the soundtrack?) and watching a few clips.

@theonewhoplays: Oh, sorry, I misunderstood, I thought you were saying that single game's cutscenes were a waste of time, not cutscenes in general. I don't think watching a game without playing it is a completely worthless experience, otherwise I wouldn't be here, but I guess I understand your opinion now.

It's weird, I've played most of the AC games, since the very first one. I'm currently playing Origins...still haven't touched Odyssey even though I own it. I bought AC Rogue, too, but haven't played that yet, either.

I really didn't like Syndicate, though. Can't say if Unity is any worse, because I kinda messed around with that one. But, so far as an AC game I played through to completion...I think the love that Syndicate's gotten was lost on me. For whatever reason, the controls were constantly fighting me. I'd run up or jump across or dive when I was trying to the opposite. The setting seemed like a good idea on paper, but at some point traversing the smoggy, grey palette backdrop wasn't doing it for me, either. And I don't know, I think I came out at the end wishing they'd done more with Evie and Jacob. I ended up enjoying the DLC much more, though. I thought the setup of having the Occupied England map, and having a more focused and smaller map for that to have been much cooler than I expected.

All the anti-capitalism rhetoric that young people are spewing these days is pretty scary. Sure, individuals are greedy (the human heart is inherently evil, not good) but capitalism as an economic system has been very very good. Billions of people would live/have lived in poverty without it. If you think playing and talking about video games for a living would exist under an alternative system, I have bad news for you.

@lilmoefow: Is the video muted for you? Video plays for me but I'm not getting any audio with the html5 player. Progressive seems to work fine.

CBS just vomited out some tech companies into the mouth of a VC amid a sea of closing mainstream game outlets but yes truly we live in a privileged paradise. Tetris sends its regards and forgives you for not thanking their comrades for killing hitler.

When I played this on PC I had to do one of those ini edits because the cloth physics at 30fps look like claymation.
