Beast in the East: Yakuza 0 - Part 01

Really looking forward to watching the rest of this series!

I just started this game today and all the guys are reacting to everything just like I have been. It's just goofy and the central story is a pretty good bit of crime stuff and the fighting is wild and dumb fun.

Also, I really need there to be more of this ASAP. Monday can't come soon enough.

I gave in and bought this game. There's so much stuff I want them to see.

Dan please stop with the inane questions. You are spoiling every video you are in. You seem more and more like a character you are trying to portray than a real person. It's getting really annoying

I know this has already come up a lot in the comments, but it really bears repeating:

Dan needs to chill the fuck out when skipping through dialogue. Especially when there's no VA, but especially when there's VA that he's cutting off.

I have no idea how he can sit through 3 hours of Kojima ladling bullshit into his eyeballs yet seemingly have the attention span of a gnat otherwise.

Big thanks to Alex for at least trying to reign him in.

Wish Dan didn't skip through the voice acting every other line. To be fair, Alex mentions it a couple times and Dan tries to listen for a bit, but it just seems to go back to his habit.

Great new series. I'm not sure I'd be really into playing Yakuza 0... but I'm enjoying watching. Keep it up GBeast. :-)

Wow. Any tools or techniques for getting up to that level of speed reading?

My thought process watching this:

Intro video - "This looks like it could be fun."

First fight - "Okay, this is pretty cool."

Walking around 80's Tokyo - "I might have to pick this up some time."

Karaoke - "I need this now."

Around the 30 minute mark, I misread the Pink St. North sign as "Pink Saint North".

I'm happy they're finally playing one of these Yakuza games, but this a long episode! I'm trying to watch it all so I can start getting caught up.

I hope you aren't claiming Shenmue gets a pass because its older. That's not how games work.

You are replying to a post over a month old. It tried a lot of new things that other games hadn't really done before.

I hope you aren't claiming that newer games don't have the benefit of learning from what other older games tried. That's not how games work.

Part 2

wow, after seeing this I'm more shocked that mass effect couldn't get its shit together. This game and story had me on the edge. I was falling asleep during the M.E quick look!

Is it just me or does "Judgement" sound a lot like "Paint It Black"?

Probably not the comparison I would make, but I see what you're saying. There are other songs in the game that definitely ape real songs though.

I cannot believe they didn't start this series at Part: 00.

Funnily enough I did not notice Dan's dialogue skipping at all until Alex asked him to slow down. Apparently I'm in synch with Dan's dialogue play.

Finally decided to just watch this series instead of playing the game myself. It's not because I don't want to play the game but Persona 5 is already taking up all my game time at the moment and there are other games after that that I would rather play. I only have so much time to play games after all.

Man the end of conversation of this video, the big explanation dump was so frustrating because of Dan fast skips. I would get 80 percent through and then he would skip. I hope he fixes that habit in later videos.

Ah, Dan, master of Improve. Only one who uses the illusive "No... but" technique.

Part 2

Just finished this, so glad I waited to finish Yakuza 0 to watch this. First Yakuza game and it was batshit insane. Highly recommend it.

Always amazed Dan was never into Yakuza, always thought it'd be right up is alley.

Shenmue is so much better than this or any other Yakuza game.

Yakuza 0 came out on PC yesterday and I went into this after watching the entire run of Beast in the East from last year.

That said, what is Dan's problem with the combat? Is he just mashing every single button possible?

Whoa boy, giving Dan the controller for a dialogue/story heavy game sure was a choice.

And thus Alex's life was changed forever.
