I never get tired of Jeff's encyclopedia brain for games. "Remember this one obscure light gun game called Point Break?" "Point Break. Or Gun Bullet in Japan". Crazy every time.

I got genuinely confused as to why I recognized the dummmmb hacking/static intro video to this disc. It's because MST3K talked over that footage one time. It's in a later issue. They should definitely find that and add another layer of commentary.

It's one of the three I gave Drew. ;)

Hopefully they get to it soon.

This is the most 90's things I've seen in a good long while. Also why would the magazine hide a bunch of their content behind codes for a demo disc, seems counter intuitive.

It was still an era where "cheat codes" were a big deal. Finding hidden stuff was fun. When I was running the fan site, it was like a race for some people as they would try to find all the stuff and send in what they found to get it added to the site. If you want some spoilers, I have them listed on the PlayStation Underground page.

Also, the weird caricature that Drew found was of Michelle Vercelli. She was a member of the marketing team.

I just want to say Carnage Heart is one of the best games on PS1. I'm glad Draw sounded as excited as I hoped he would.

And of course, it still is, but now we gotta deal with wierdos freaking out when they found out something was hidden, ruining it for the rest of us due to publishers listening to the squeaky wheels. :(

and, the timberwolf IS a great ride at WoF, probably my favorite in the park, except at this point it feels like you need a mouthguard just to survive it with all your teeth...

This was a great iteration, so many hilarious bits. Thanks dudes!

I thought that behind the scenes video on the Twisted Metal ad was legitimately interesting too, even thought it's basically an ad itself.

So here's a cool secret tip for the Rage Racer demo. Start driving backwards and if you drive long enough the time of day will eventually change.

Blew my fucking mind.

Demo Derby is fun both as a historical artifact (Jeff knows a lot about old games, turns out) and as something to make fun of when it inevitably leads to the worst parts of 90s culture.

Resident Evil 1.5 is pretty crazy. A pretty incomplete build of that game leaked onto the internet a few years ago and it seems like the team that is trying to "restore" it is still working on that. I wouldn't be surprised if that shows up eventually.

For those who didn't get that "Is it the chronic" deep cut from Jeff, it's from a Dr Dre concert from 2000. I have no idea why I still remember it but, 15 years later, that flying skull still looks cool.

That's actually not a particularly deep cut by Jeff's standards. I love it when he brings up obscure rappers from the late 80s/early 90s.

I always felt that the much more superior mech game of the time was the Earthsiege series and the first Starsiege (before it became a Tribes FPS). These guys never talk about it...seems like Mechwarrior was way more popular...is this the consensus?

Also, Dan is wrong. Tomb Raider 1 & 2 were glorious (before it all went to poop), but I did play it on PC.

First grappling hook I've seen when driving was in Batman:The Movie for the Amiga (it was released for C64 as well but I can't vouch for the grapple being in that).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gEPb57bOWe4

Driving sequence starts at 04:14, first grapple left at 04:33 and then grapple right after 04:42.

We used to have one of those mech places Jeff was talking about here in Vegas. I remember being amazed by those things. It was really immersive, there were a ton of random buttons and flashing lights, they even had a door that they'd slide closed on the side so you really felt like you were in a cockpit. I think that particular location had some sort of training program you had to go through in order to use the full functionality of the pod, otherwise you just had the joystick and maybe a throttle? Man...I feel old. Thanks Jeff.

Did they really timelapse the breakdown at E3 at the end of that segment? That looked like the build up footage in reverse.

Sorry if I missed it but Playstation Underground had MS3TK riff on the opening cut-scene for promotional material later on.

It doesn't matter how gritty and apocalyptic your backdrops are or how public domain your ironic cartoons are, there is NO WAY to make trombones look cool.

Seems like there's no specific category for them, and I would love to have them ranked by latest uploaded.

@taintedkane: Yeah the site really needs a redesign, or at least some kinda re-evaluation of categories. Really every show should have a category, instead of some of the Premium shows like Demo Derby and Mario Party Party being hidden away like that. Meanwhile shows that haven't been added to in ages like TANG still have a category in the dropdown menu, maybe they should make a new super-category for archived content?

The music that plays during the E3 montage at 55:06 was also used in Nintendo Power's Starfox 64 VHS promo around the same time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPsAoxLAhCk#t=2m38s
