Old Games: Encyclopedia Bombastica: Mega Man 2

Love this game. Love this Bombastica.

This is one of the first games I can remember truly obsessing over as a child. Trying to work out the best stage paths was all a seven-year-old boy like me really needed at the time. :)

Oh man it's been so long since I've seen this played at normal speed. This game is on regular rotation still amongst the speedrun streaming community but it's a totally different game when those folks play it. :D

You should play this game on 'difficult'! Normal mode is a actually a special easy mode designed for the North American release because Capcom thought we couldn't take the heat.

Of course the hardest parts in Mega man have always been the jumping puzzles and I think those are the same.

There are still heroes left in man and their names are Alex Navarro and Vinny Caravella.

I would not be opposed to one of these for every NES Mega Man game. I'd also like to see the X-series also but it seems neither of them are too into those games.

I start with Quickman every time. I love that stage, love the Quick Boomerang. I wish it was in every game.

Man, Vinny talking about all these cartoons I watched during my childhood. So nostalgic now.

@ruckus_ahoy: How was this a mess? The only complaint I can think of is that they could have beaten it given 15 more minutes or so.

I also pronounced Quinoa wrong until just recently.

@sodapop7: I wouldn't have appreciated some research, tighter editing, historical context, anything useful on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of a classic. A wasted opportunity. Unless the presenters/editors/writers aren't being paid for your insights and passion, in which case, as you were!

Great timing on this, I just picked this up and have been playing through it for the first time on 3DS virtual console. I always thought these games had a reputation for being super hard, so I've being playing it with save points like a coward. I've also not been taking advantage of the items and didn't realize the checkpoints and item drops were so generous.

I managed to get through Quickman's stage without the time stopper by utilizing save points. You have to preemptively hit the direction you want to go before moving on to the next screen.

Thanks Alex and Vinny. Maybe I'll give this a shot without the virtual console cheats once I beat Wily the cheap way.

I can never get past the First Dr. Wily Stage whenever I try playing this again on my Wii, damn dragon! Its still one hell of a game though and I enjoyed the Alex/Vinny pairing for this bombastica!

Meh, Zero pretty much IS the same shit as Protoman. I don't really care about Alex getting any of that stuff wrong, Mega Man lore is bullshit anyway.

I still want a Legends 3 though. ;_;

And this is the best original series song. Wily Stage 1&2 is good, but overrated.

I am glad they brought in Gummi Bears Editor Vinny Caravella for this Bombastica.

Scanlines look great, not sure if that's the Retron or if y'all have an in-line generator but it's an appreciated addition to these sorts of videos.

I hate it when people commenting on a gameplay video talk about how something made out to be hard on a video is actually not that hard... but yeah, that Quickman stage isn't that hard, even without the flash weapon. You can see where he hesitated every time.

This concludes my most dickheadish post in site history.

Why did they do Air Man first? You always do Metal Man first, he has the most generally useful weapon in the game!

Decided to see how far I could get in the game while this video played. Beat the game at exactly 47 minutes into the video. Do more Mega Man games!

Mega Man 4 was the first Mega Man game I played and subsequently also my favorite. I mean the title theme makes me want to play it right at this moment.

Mega Man 9 was a rad game.

It took a few tries for me to remember the pattern, but I don't think I've ever used the freeze on Quickman's stage: (and no I didn't turn on sound recording). The protip is never jump. That means you have the pattern wrong.
