It is great that this is equal parts frustrating and entertaining. I think that is the definition of an endurance run. I was on the edge of my seat when they almost died. Too funny.

Oh hey, I'm a master of strategy, lets drop the party member that we just got a new weapon for that's sitting in our inventory so we can have 2 healers. I swear, someone in a coma drooling on themselves could have made a more informed decision.

I'm so glad I'm only watching this until they get to the point where my save is so I can remember what I was doing and finish it myself to save whatever sanity I have left.

yeah two healers is overkill especially when they don't even use the healing Techs all that much and waste tonics, what's the betting they go right past that door that gives the characters magic abilities.

I'm not sure that they even know that Robo has healing techs. When they almost died, and only Crono and Robo were alive, they just kept attacking with Robo.

Half the endurance is them playing all the way through the game. The other half is me watching them constantly playing this game horribly. Seriously I've never played through this game and I realized an episode or two in that they could heal out of battle. And holy shit they could heal in battle but instead they choose to bash their head against it and then use up their items. But this is half the fun of endurance run, watching them scrape by every single encounter is alot more fun and dramatic than watching them play meticulously and methodically through it.

I have in fact played the game, but it doesn't hold up as well as a lot of other SNES RPGs. The visuals are also kind of hit and miss. Some stuff looks great, but anything that relied on digitization of hand drawn art looks kind of terrible. Which is only a couple places, but the bit depth of the SNES doesn't really do that stuff justice.

Really? They didn't like blitzball? I thought that was one of the best minigames in the FF series.

It was fucking garbage.

And it didn't have any auto-leveling. If you didn't use Kimahri for twelve hours and then you start a boss battle with him in the party, he was still garbage.

FFX let you swap party members mid-battle, it let them all take part and level up.

Great episode again guys despite the minor misfortune of the conveyor belt. I think you're right about Bobo looking like Tick-Tock from Return to Oz. Don't forget that you got a new gun for Bucca. Keep doing these videos!

Well, that sure was fucking tense - both Bobo and Brono were down to 1 health. Had the Debugger chosen to attack Brono, I have a feeling that may have been the end of the Endurance Run.

@CH3BURASHKA: Brono dying doesn't give you a Game Over unless the whole party dies. At least, I think that's the case.

Also, @everyone who thinks healing techs are better than using up items: Tonics and cheaper than Ethers. Always. Throughout the entire game. Use 'em if you got 'em.

I decided to replay this game when the endurance ran began I beat it just the other day and skipped fights all the time. I didn't have to grind at any point.

Fair enough. Many of them are just filler and not really random. Not that all games don't have filler. Let's just say that I find it very easy to relate to Ryan and Patrick when they sigh at the thought of more fighting.

Have they died yet? No. Just like anyone else they'll learn strategies once they come across a challenge. Also this game is hardly short of healing items, they might as well chug through them this early on.

Man, one moment Brono keeps getting knocked down by them and can't do anything, the next he is able to whip their asses. I hate that kind of story telling mechanic. Don't want to single out Chrono Trigger though - it is such a common thing.

BTW. Part 7 and they've already TWICE joked about having completed the game and being about to start a New Game Plus :-D

I haven't watched the episode yet but i assume he is referencing them leaving Bucca at the end of time to keep Brono, Barle and Bobo? This is the best potential party at this point. Bucca isn't very good at this point.

I don't wanna belabor the point but just a reminder: you guys can use healing techs outside of battle as well. Really helpful when you don't wanna waste all your items.

Also, that 1 HP moment was hilarious. And Ryan's "OH NO" when Bobo gets punched in the face cracked me up.

Haha, fire is that acid's weakness. I'm also curious to see if they ever figure out they can use healing moves when not in battle versus using a ton of tonics. Tonics may be cheaper, but you just have use just one ether to get the MP back versus a bunch of tonics.

And one of the above posters is correct, the game is definitely made so you don't have to engage in every battle. When you rush through, though, you have to use a little bit more strategy.

I didn't mind blitzball. I actually took the time to get a good team together and win that goddamn cup. It's way more than I did trying to learn Tetra Master and giving up.

Also, don't be shy with those ethers, guys. Drop them in battle, that's what they are for. :)

I won't deny, the choices they make and the things they miss or don't see really anger me. I don't know if it's because I played it more than once before, but some stuff seems so evident, and they just totally blow past it or wonder for minutes what to or where to go.

Either way, the funny moments make up for it, I'm enjoying this ER more than I expected. But again, sooo frustrating.

Casting heals out of combat isn't really a strategy though. I don't understand how they could've missed that.

How can you get angry at other people playing a video game? I don't get this. (It's not just you, but more a thing I see a lot.)

This may surprise you, but I also think the game is merely "good".

FFX didn't scale the levels, but what it did was let you switch in all the characters for xp, so if you were crazy (like me) you could get everyone xp every battle.

I am all for people having their own opinions, but my beef was you should at least play it before drawing a conclusion on it based on some videos. If you have played the game and don't like it, I'm not going to try and change your mind but give it a chance if you haven't.

I wonder if they'll ever buy a stack of dirt cheap tonics for out of combat healing or just keep using the higher end stuff that gives much less health for the cost. Not that it really matters. It's been a lot of fun so far. :)

It's evident to you, since you've played it more than once. Ryan's playing this for the first time and, to my knowledge, isn't a huge JRPG fan. Some of that stuff is pretty easy to miss.
