Yeah....I've been playing through the DS version recently. I had thought I remembered him saying the same line from the SNES version and he stopped saying it after I saved Lara, but after checking better I see that he never said it. In the DS version he tells you to talk to your companions, that they may know about some of the quests he has mentioned.

With games that don't have voice acting you should just pronounce words however you want. My pronunciation of Chocobo will always be wrong, but I prefer it. Don't take away my memories.

The Ruby Armor you get from that isn't that useful. Cuts 80% of fire damage, not absorb. On top of this, the armor rating isn't anything that great compared to other late-game armor.

I didn't know that. They don't know that either. What I meant by my comment is that the hints are RIGHT THERE and yet they are completely lost.

I am shocked by the non use of Ayla because she isn't their "goto party member." Ayla is probably the best character in the game behind Crono. She has the 'Charm' tech which can steal items. You can get more Nova Armors and Gold Studs.

Oh man, down to the final hours. I think they're practically over-leveled for everything so they should steamroll the rest of the game no problem. I'm really glad they took the time to see all that Chrono Trigger has to offer. All they missed is just insubstantial items here and there.

They've almost got all the highest end stuff, more or less. The only real end-game top-tier gear they missed out on is the gear they could have picked up via the Pendant-locked magic treasure chests in the ruins with the ghost of Cyrus.

I mean, they picked up the chests so they got the regular gear from them, but if you visit the chests in 600 AD, open the dialogue, choose not to open them, then go into 1000 AD (the Present) and then take the contents out of the magic chests, you get powered-up versions of their contents, one of which includes Marle's/Barle's best crossbow, and Moon Armor, which has the highest armor rating in the game and +10 Magic Defense. There's no way you can expect them to know that though. They are plenty geared up enough to take on Lavos or anything else the game throws at them.

If they wanted to get even more powerful though, if they use Ayla her "Charm" skill is actually a Steal skill, and you can steal a lot of useful gear from enemies. For instance, the Flyclops that they find here in the Black Omen will actually have Gold Studs on them, meaning they can have every character have an accessory to cut MP usage by 75%, which I find to be the most useful, if not more useful than any other accessory in the game.

I guess I'm lucky since I have no attachment to this series and haven't played it since it came out, so their bumbling and fumbling and all the "errors" aren't as egregious to me as they are to others.

In the end bumbling and fumbling around is the bread and butter of an ER. ^^ And that's why I come back to it.

There should be a filter before you post if you're giving "advice" on these things.

Trust me, as someone who has played this game a lot and wrote huge amounts of the Chrono Trigger wiki on this site, their "errors" were all very minor. People are just dicks.

Square Enix is so fucked up on that anyway. According to them, Ifrit is ee-freet. Cecil is See-sul, Tidus is Teedus. Fuck them all.

For Cecil its the other way around. Everybody thought it was pronounced See-sul but it turns out its supposed to be seh-sul. Like Adam Seh-suller.

@Ciao: I personally just charmed gold studs from the red cyclops thingies for each of my party members. But yeah the way the tend to completely ignore dual techs they need to get bagus's strongest magic if they want a chance in hell at beating lavos.

Wow, yeah, and people keep whining about Ryan and Patrick not remembering a line of dialogue they read in the game 3 weeks ago which hinted at what they should do right now. They spent about 10 minutes of the beginning of the episode talking about that they had to look up what they where supposed to do.

I personally have found these last episodes frustrating to watch. Knowing what Ryan & Patrick need to do and not being able to tell them... AAAAAAAARRRRGGGGGHH!!! :O

That is how Ifrit is supposed to be pronounced. It's Arabic and is the name of a certain class of evil Jinn and that is how it is pronounced. Similarly that is how Tidus is supposed to be pronounced if you go by the Roman personal name Titus, in Latin and other Romance languages (ie. French, Italian, etc.) it is pronounced as Tee-tus.

As for Cecil it can be pronounced a couple different ways.

I've been playing along with them and beat Lavos with Crono, Marle, and Lucca without any problem. (except for that whole "Lavos-core-respawn" thing, but I still beat him on my first try)

You are my hero. "Don't take away my memories" sums it up so perfectly. So much of the charm in Chrono Trigger and SNES era Final Fantasy was how you read into it, mistranslations, mispronunciations and all. I think back of it and remember reading into it with such personality.

Even childhood misconceptions of running around searching for the "someone close to you needing help fast" (just like Ryan and Patrick) reminds me of conversations trying to figure out who it could be with my brother and friends. Good times.

Incidentally, I always figured the "someone close" was Queen Zeal. By the time Chrono Cross came out, I thought it might have been referring to Schala. Only watching this have I actually thought to look it up and realise it was just a poor translation xD

STILL. MEMORIES. That complete mispronunciation of a word/name has more nostalgic meaning than hundreds of people telling you you're wrong on the internet.
