@fnrslvr: This game is underrated by PC elitists and by overrated by console guys for whom this game was released at a formidable time in their lives as the first non-trash console FPS. Respectfully, you'd have a different opinion of this game if you came to it after playing Quake on the PC.

That said, I also was shocked by their reaction to Train. I thought that was universally agreed to be one of the best levels? Certainly one of the most memorable to me.

i say it every time - i never, ever want to fucking hear dan's incredibly narrow definitions around what qualifies as a "video game" or not

So I know this is almost a year ago since this video, but I'm catching up on some GB East series' that I missed.

Boy, if you'll recall, Dan really makes his opinions about games clear in this video. He still sounds kinda salty about RDR2 disappointing him so greatly, and then also dislikes Metro having buttons to wipe off your mask, change air filter, etc. "Why would you put that in the game, that's not fun." Dan is entitled to his opinion, but it seems like a startling lack of imagination from a games critic to not even see the point of games having immersive elements like that. Some of it is a bit that he plays up because it annoys people, but even when the chips are down in GotY he basically still espouses those opinions.

Dan's an entertaining guy, he came up with some good video series ideas, but over the years I reached a point where I just don't respect his opinions on media of any kind. He's just so stuck in his lane of what he likes (basically very nostalgia driven based on his tastes from about age 8-17), and he seems to feel a need to belittle games that aren't his style instead of respectfully saying that they're just not for him. I can't say I've really missed him from GB East since he left for WWE.

People whinging about how salty Dan is about RDR2 without seeing the irony...

I mean did y'all see the comments that GOTY? Or on his Twitter? Like he was well-spoken and illustrative in the discussion, but everyone had already jumped on the hype train and ANY criticism about it is buried under tantrums of "CONTRARIANISM," but he's absolutely right about that game. And I say that as someone who loves it, but if you're expecting a 10/10 and get an 8/10, that's the definition of DISAPPOINTING.
