Sekiro gets into the bigger/wilder bosses a bit more as the game progresses. That said all my favorite fights were still against similar humanoid enemies, every time.

Dragonrot advances when you die die. And it only temporarily stops npc side story progression until cured, it does not kill them (the two early npc's that do die, do so naturally in any case and that is what threw people for a loop in regards to this)

Also I will be super interested to her Vinny's experience with the main boss of the area he just got to.

Because that is where, up to that point I was still in the exact same mindset as Vinny when it came to boss fights, chipping them out over time, (especially since the dream sequence boss encouraged that approach directly).

But at the top of that tower is where I had to break away from that "chip down" mentality as the primary means of fighting in Sekiro, (not completely, but significantly so). Because moving away and giving that boss space he starts to chip you back very quickly. Where as as soon as I became aggressive in my attack, hugging his face and forcing out parries, suddenly the fight went from a long drawn out grueling slog to over in almost a blink of an eye. It seemed clearly designed to punish my dart in'n'out playstyle vs. tough enemies, and was at the same time clearly made to be very vulnerable to the in his face aggressive strike+parry pressure.

In a way that was my Sekiro "oh" moment. That was also the final push to start breaking those ingrained DS series habits.

@alex The two new Persona dancing games for PS4 released last year. Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight and Persona 3: Dancing in Moonlight. Persona 4: Dancing all Night is available on PS4 also. That version of the game was available through a special bundle of the other games.

@tennmuerti: yah I think Vinny is very much in the kind of honeymoon phase of Sekiro where it is challenging but rewarding, but soon he will start encountering bosses that don’t let him fight the way he describes and actually force you into a very specific and sometimes difficult to execute style instead. I have a weird love hate relationship with Sekiro. I like a lot of the trappings around it - love the level design and all the cool samurai aesthetic. Some bosses I just find not fun to fight or demanding of a play style that I was never good at and continue to not be good at.

Also while it makes perfect sense in this game I inherently hate multiple boss life bars.

Is Alex making up Persona games? I don't remember a new fighting game being announced.
The only new "spin off" Persona game that hasn't released in North America is Persona Q2. That's coming in June.

@authenticm: A few episodes ago of the Beastcast. You know how a lot of public restrooms in large places like sports arenas have separate entrances and exits? At big events like Wrestlemania there can be a long line of people at the restrooms in between matches. Dan skips the line by going in the other entrance, universally understood to be the "exit" even if it isn't marked, because he's a jerk.

I seriously hope Dan gets kicked out of Wrestlemania for cutting the line. That would be incredible. (It won't happen, of course, because Dan never has to pay a price for his shitty behavior, but it would be amazing to hear about.)

Hearing Dan's fears about egg yolks having a chicken fetus in it, next time the coasts get together I really want Jan to introduce Dan to balut.

After all the trouble he went to in order to perceive what an egg white is, I am baffled that dan did not then investigate the yolk at any point

New Super Mario Bros. co-op is great Vinny. You just need 4 stoner college students in a room laughing their asses off jumping on each others heads. Playing solo recently was a bummer for me after such escapades.

The thing that made me laugh the hardest on Giant Bomb is that gyrocopter moment from the Ravaged Quick Look. I almost passed out because I couldn't breathe.

Non-Giant Bomb, first thing that comes to mind is Zach Galifianakis playing a double-sided flute on SNL's What's Up With That. Also every scene that features Brian Austin Green dancing or rapping on 90210.

@danryckert Correction: Duke Nukem Forever was released before Borderlands 2. Duke Nukem Forever was in 2011 and Borderlands 2 was 2012. =)

Non-Giant Bomb... the scene in "Airplane!" where everyone is lining up to smack the hysterical lady. Gets me every single time. :)

Started NG+ in Sekiro today and I'm just melting everything, feels sooo good. I don't feel like anything (without a flute) has any chance of killing me anymore and this time last week I was getting rinsed consistently.

Getting a second TV for the living room and playing games side by side with my girlfriend was definitely one of the best decisions I've made in the past few years. I'd highly recommend it.

The whole Dragon Rot thing reminds me of the fake out from Hell Blade, while it's not flat out false "If you die too many times your game is ruined" like the latter, there is so many Dragonblood Droplet's through out the game that's it seems kind of inconsequential to really be focusing and worrying about it like I was through the first 1/3 rd of the game.

well good news for the Setsuna guy: average playthrough is 22 hours, not 80

Games media personalities: What a weird decision to announce a game at PAX.

Games media personalities: *also does a panel where people wait 3-4 hours to get the best seats*

I always find it weird when people in the position of Jeff or Vinny seem confused as to why a company would announce a game at a--gasp!--FAN CONVENTION. Devs show new stuff at PAX all the time. Usually not in the form of straight up AAA announcements quite like this, but they're always showing new gameplay and that sort of thing.

Metal Gear Survive is a good game.
Put 50 hours into it, enjoyed the multiplayer, it's not mindblowing but it's a nice forgiving survival game with a campaign (making it unique in the genre), and has excellent gameplay mechanics thanks to its MGS5 roots.
