We're six movies and damn near a thousand ounces deep into our Fast & Furious journey, and things just keep getting stupider. Amnesia! Tanks! Impossible runways! THIS. IS. FILM. AND. 40S.
An audio accompaniment to your movie viewing pleasure with your friends at Giant Bomb.
This podcast is an audio supplement, meant to be played simultaneously with the film Fast & Furious 6. We are watching this movie via the extended edition Blu-ray release. You can find the movie at any of these fine establishments.
Our commentary begins right after the Universal Logo has completely faded out. It's the 25 second mark.
ALSO, two minor housekeeping things. Early in this track, I mention fixing something in post because I thought the movie had failed to start playing at the correct spot. It did, I was dumb. Ignore that.
Secondly, we believe we have fixed the issue folks were having with glitches in podcast uploads. If you hear any issues with this file, please let us know. If not, we'll re-upload the last two episodes so you can enjoy them glitch-free. Thank you!
You guys! This is the best one yet!!! not just in terms of movies - You guys! The quips?? The bits!? This is some riff-trax level shit!! You can't stop making film and forties after next week!
I gotta admit, now that I had seen the previous films, I've enjoyed both 5 and 6 more. Really curious what I think of 7 now because I remember that one being my favorite.
My hope is (with this being such a superhero series now) that Dom "betrays" the family because the bad guy found Giselle alive and the post-credit scene is Han alive. Because why not? Han died basically how Letty died and she was fine. And Giselle died basically how Shaw died but he maybe didn't actually die (not wanting spoilers here)? So just bring them back.

Nah, I'm pretty confident that Dom's heel turn is going to be because Kurt Russell is going to turn out to be a supervillain.

Han and Letty are not the same death, Han was trapped in his car when it exploded Letty wasn't in her car she was away from it when the guy shot the gas tank which blew her into a ditch, so no that wouldn't be a angle they could use.
Also Giselle couldn't be alive either the plane was travelling too fast and it was also off the ground she would have had too big of a impact to survive it, the plane was pretty much on the ground in flames when Shaw went threw the wind-shield of the car and out of the plane ( wont spoil but you find out Shaw's fate in the seventh movie ) so again not the same.
Well Dan and Alex it IS a guy from The Raid, actor Joe Taslim.
I agree with Vinny that Statham killing Han is fucking awful, no Dan they didn't plan that out. It's an awful retcon to shoehorn an awful actor into the franchise.
That tunnel section in London was actually filmed in Liverpool. Which sucked because i needed that tunnel to drive to work at 6am at the time, but they closed it off for a while. I do remember trying to catch a glimpse of what was going on at the Liverpool-side entrance and seeing a weirdass car with a huge spoiler on it, which was bizarre but neat.
Vinnys continued nonacceptance and lack of respect for Tej (Ludacris) really needs to be addressed Alex & Dan. Get him on board!
Listen here Vinny... Tej has a garage, he's a tuner, a bookie and a fixer. Why wouldn't he have these entry level skills, the London police were fresh out of swat tactical nerds - Tej gets the call.. why? It's in his name.. Ludacris!
I'm glad at least Dan agrees with me that the runway scene is the best sequence in this franchise.
I think after rewatching these films for this I've come to the conclusion that 5 is the best film start to finish, but the last 40 minutes of 6 (the tank-bridge sequence forward) are the best scenes.
And I agree with Alex, 7 is great too, but not quite on the same level of sheer absurdity. Wan does a decent job directing 7, but Lin knew exactly how to shoot these films by the time 6 was made.

I don't think Dan was seriously saying they planned it, mostly a goof.
It's dumb but I loved the twist; in a more serious series it would be a dealbreaker but with how dumb and ridiculous this series has gotten the reveal was dope.
This opening part of the game actually bridges the gap between 5 and 6, in that it contains scenes and plot that 6 picks up from in Moscow.
I really wish games did this more often, much like the Enter The Matrix did between The Matrix, and Matrix Reloaded. (Well, technically between the short film "Final Flight of the Osiris", and Matrix Reloaded). And, to some extent, the Chronicles of Riddick game.
6 is my favorite, followed by 5. 7 was a real step back for the series I feel, however, from the trailers 8 seems to be a return to the structure of 6 and 5 so it should be great.
It's been such a joy to rewatch this series with these commentaries. I really hope that Film & 40s for They Live and Sneakers happen because those are two of my all-time favorites.
Watching 7 today and I noticed the title card says "Fast & Furious 7" when everything else calls it "Furious 7," and the opposite happened with 6. So I guess you can just call them whatever you want because they don't seem to know either.
I love it how during 2 Fast 2 Furious, when Vinny and Dan thought the series was realistic, they were against the claw that hacked the cars but now that we're on FF6 and everything is batshit crazy, they're completely fine with the hockey puck that does the same thing as the claw.
Also drunk Vinny reacting to the post-credits scene had me in tears. Listening to Vinny and Dan experiencing the whole Fast and Furious series for the first time has been a complete delight.

So the bad guy Asian dude is in fact Joe Talsim, who totally plays the good veteran cop in The Raid who Mad Dog kills in one of the best fight scenes in that movie.
So, I started watching these because I watch most everything GB, not to mention MST3K. I had never seen any of the fast and furious movies and so it was a win-win!
My wife has a vacation set to visit her parents and is taking our 3 year old toddler with her.
She leaves the 12th. F&F8 Opens the night of the 13th. I haven't seen a movie in a theater in like.... 4 years.
It all clicked with me just now after finishing this one.
Its midnight right now and I'm just sitting here giddy with excitement.
