Perhaps you should try actually playing the game then?

In my opinion, Gran Turismo shouldn't be allowed to use the title "real driving simulator" anymore, because Forza is far more realistic and offers a lot tuning and customisation options.  But well done, we at least managed to go 5 posts before someone brought up GT.

How is a Rewind button more realistic, if you crash in real life there's no rewind button.

Anyways, like I said, I'm going to put my $300 towards a driving wheel+GT5:The Real Driving Simulator when it comes out.

There are options and assists to make the game easier to play for the more casual audiance.  Not everyone who buys games wants a 100% realistic experience, and I think you'll find Gran Turismo also has a number of assist options you can turn off.

I meant the core driving mechanics in Forza are more realistic.  Rewind can be used if you screw up in an endurance race and don't feel like repeating the entire race again.  I think it's a great options to help teach newer players how to play the game, instead of getting frustrated and throwing the controller away, they can simply go back and see what they did wrong.

However, doing so will mark your time on the leaderboard as uncertified.  If you're worried about "noobs screwing up the game".

@Frumpy: Because you have to use the rewind button?  Sometimes I just dont get people's logic.  Its not like your hotlap times go up on the same leaderboard when you rewind, and you cant use it online so why does it matter?  Use it if you want or dont, god forbid people play a game the way they want to and have fun with it.

Really liking the constant stream of video content from Giant Bomb, I'm hoping to see great video reviews on Borderlands and DJ Hero.

Have you seen the customization options in Forza? Also, I think we've all been in situations where it's nearing the end of an endurance race, wreck, and never want to do that race again. The rewind feature isn't to make it less realistic, it's to make it more accessible to people. I have to agree with Jeff, if I screwed up on lap 39 of 40, I wouldn't want to pick up the controller for a while or do that race again just because of 1 mistake.

Options and assists=Arcade. If Gran Turismo 5:The Real Driving Simulator also has the same 'options' and 'assists', it will be an Arcadey game too.

But it also has Nascar, WRC, 1000 cars, 80 tracks, new physics engine, dynamic weather racing, much better graphics, support for more driving wheels, and a lot more. So that's why I'd rather invest my time and money into GT5.

Plus it will have like a Zillion more players than Forza 3, so the Online mode will always be healthier.

Ok you don't have to use the Rewind button and people like you wouldn't because it would affect your leaderboard spot so you still have the same difficultly so the rewind button does not make this game any less of a sim.

I don't want a Rewind button in a driving S-I-M-U-L-A-T-O-R, in an Arcade game?Sure, I'd love a Rewind button in Burnout.

Like I said, GT5:The Real Driving Simulator is where I will be spending my money. If for some reason I want another Arcadey racing game(Already have Burnout, Pure, NFS, etc) then I'll rent Forza.

Only one week until release in EU. It will be awesome! I have my limited edition pre-ordered and ready to go! The only thing I wish Forza did was crazy historical cars like GT. It's not essential, but being able to drive a bunch of old cars is pretty fun. However the pros outweighs the cons by a lot.

OK you do know that all you do is go the options menu set it to super hard and everything gets cut off so whats the problem you have your super hard SIM just for you so just the presence of an easy mode makes the game bad? Thats just silly.

How much are Sony paying you?

1.  I guess Gran Turismo "the Real Driving Simulator" is an arcade game too, as aside from the rewind it has most of the same assist options as Forza.  You can turn them off in BOTH games, and I wouldn't be surprised if GT has been delayed to add things like the rewind in.  You can almost certainly expect to see it in GT6.

2.  "1000 cars" is an extreme overstatement.  Although it has "1000" cars most of these use exactly the same models and are just slightly different stat wise.  Take a look at the PSP car line up.  800 different cars, and over 50 of them are the Skyline, 30 of them are RSX's, etc.

In Forza, they don't need so many clones because you can tune and customise the cars as much as you want.

3.  The online community in Forza is already huge, as you can see from these videos and the game isn't even out.  Whether or not GT ends up being better, Forza will always have the bigger community not only because of XBL but because it provides far more options and community featuers, like being able to set up eBay style storefronts to sell cars and vinyls.

The graphics is the only thing I'll give you.  GT5 is a much better looking game than Forza.  But if that's all you care about.. then this whole discussion seems pointlesss.

It's an Arcadey videogame, like I said:IF I want an Arcadey game with Rewind buttons and Spray paint options, I'll get Forza.

But I want a real driving simulator, not a watered down racing experience. So that's why I'm going to buy Gran Turismo 5:The Real Driving Simulator.

Perhaps you didnt read properly.  DONT USE IT!  God damnit people like you have no common sense.  It doesnt effect you at all if someone else uses it and you sure as hell dont have to.  Get over it bro.  Not using the rewind button magically turns it into what the game is, a racing simulator.  And it is an extremely well done simulator whether you want to believe it or not.

Then you simply don't use the rewind button.  If you're a good sim player you shouldn't need it.  It's there for those who do, everyone else can ignore it and gain extra points on the leaderboards for not doing so.  Having the option does not in any way make it an arcade game.

They did so many things right. Brian Beckman is a fan, which probably helps too.

Well it's worth pointing out that a lot of places in the UK are sending the game early to make up for the postal strikes.  GAME are getting ready to ship the games tomorrow or Monday, so we should hopefully start getting our copies on Tuesday.
