Yep, me too. I enjoy racing games here and there, but I'm no "car buff". This game looks really cool though. I can totally get behind all the customization and I think the rewind option is great. 
  
My roommate is so pumped about GT5. I might just purchase this to show him that he's missing out on a lot of good games because of his extreme sony fanboyism. 
 
It's almost sickening how up sony's ass he is. I mean I'll be playing some halo and he'll walk in the room and be like "Uncharted is better!!" I'm like.. "Dude, totally different games, that comparison doesn't even make sense..." I mean don't get me wrong, I played through Uncharted and loved it, great game, but comparing it to Halo is retarded...

If this game goes the way the GT games used to go for me, I'll play till I get a Nissan late 90's Skyline then stick with that for most of the game where I can...
 
Now it can be a Hello Kitty, Ghostbuster Pacman skyline.

You go ahead and do that.  We will play a racing simulator.  You know, because driving is boring and in a game  you need to race.  And that requires AI and damage to the car's power train ect.  have fun driving.

Turns out, he's just another uneducated fanboy, picking a fight on the internet.
 
Not sure about everyone else, but his comment to @WinterSnowblind: sounded along the lines of "WTF REWIND?! LOL FAKEZ GAMEZ LOLOLOL" to me, even though you can play the entire game never using it.
 
Yep, Gran Turismo is by far the more realistic game, @Frumpy:. You win. Your console is better.

i'm going to get this i think, despite not buying a racing game since burnout 3! (and that doesn't really count does it) looks really fun, i generally spend a bit of time with in game editors too

If you are a true car fan you should be like both Forza and GT. I personally prefer GT as well but Forza 3 is also an awesome car simulator. Also about the rewind feature, like many people have already said its only there to make the game more accessible to more people. *Eagarly waiting for Forza 3 to be released* :D

I hate the fact that there are so many games I really want to buy, and I'm on such a tight budget I can barely afford Modern Warfare 2.

Well.... I will never buy a 360. that is me and thats that. But that dosent mean i dont acknowledge a good game when i see it. as im waiting for GT, this tickle my bone tbh. So,gz 360 players. Looks like a ton of fun. 
 
The part that really got me, is the vinyl section. I love that. Looks like a good game. so enjoy all of you who can:)

This looks so legit, and the shiny-ass car models are AMAZING. I wonder if they incorporated the Bugatti's "if you slam the brakes at 666 mph it wil stop in a straight line within 3 seconds" thing. Man, if I had like a grand sitting around I'd get the whole 9 yards set up for Forza and GT5, seat belts and all!  
 
Only having Forza is in no way a downer, though, based on what Jeff said.

Wow, the editorial content on Giantbomb now has it's time to shine. This is why I love GB. Great content in the slow part of the year, but when it come time to spend you're money, they drop the knowledge that you need, in a well thought out manner.

No offense, but this game looks seriously better than GT5. I'm a dedicated Sony fan, but this game looks amazing. With all its new features, Gran Turismo is gonna need more than pretty graphics to outshine this game.

Right cause I was totally bashing Forza 3. Dude I bought a 360 just so I could play this game. GT5 is going to be like 10 times longer though. Forza 3 will be a snack compared to GT5. GT5 is connected to the meat dimension.

Variety, choice, adaptability to fit ones needs, wow what a shame.  Who knows, the fact that the entire forza series has come and gone through 3 solid iterations between GT4 and the eventual, possible release of GT5 is clouding my judgement.  GT5 is the duke nukem forever of racing games, at least until it actually comes out.
 
Maybe it will be great!
 
Anyways, great review Jeff, you really put into words what I have always enjoyed about this series and why I recommend it to anyone with even a passing interest in racing games.  See what I did there?
