Great review but i think i'm gonna stick with Forza 2 since i still haven't finished the career and aside from the rewind feature the two games seme somewhat the same(yeah Forza 3 has some graphical improvements but it's not that big).

Perhaps you should try actually playing the game then? In my opinion, Gran Turismo shouldn't be allowed to use the title "real driving simulator" anymore, because Forza is far more realistic and offers a lot tuning and customisation options. Your right, but if you crash in real life you probably won't continue driving because you'll be dead or your car will be smashed to pieces where people will have to run and use the jaws of life to save you.

Man, I can't wait until Forza 3 launches. Turn 10 seems to have lived up to their claims of Forza 3 being the "definitive racing sim of this generation". From the looks of things, Forza 3 could be the best racing game ever made.

How is careening headlong into a corner at 149 miles per hour while sliding along the rails in the dirt to pass the ridiculously sterile A.I. that never deviate from the same driving line more realistic than actual damage physics and at least somewhat asymmetrical and unpredictable A.I?

Oh and in that latter egg you laid about GT's supposed "zillion" more players, I suppose you'd like to vet that information? Especially given the fact that Forza already has a proven online user base and, there, GT is essentially starting from scratch.

Forza 2 didn't really grab me... Maybe I'm just not into racing sim, but I wanted to so badly... Maybe this game will. But maybe I need an actual wheel and pedal to really appreciate it?

i realise this review and subsequent posts are a few months old but i came to check out my belated purchase and had to feed the troll while i was here.

   the video probably didn't help the games' cause here as there were a lot of intentional drifts. however, you don't have to drive like that and in most cases it's detrimental to do so, unless you have a properly tuned car - which is entirely possible.

   well, if you're going to apply this logic to every game you play do you give up first time your character, say Niko Bellic, dies mid-level or simply load an old save and pick up where you left off? while i can appreciate the desire to complete a flawless race it can be inhibitive to have to do an entire race again due to one lapse in concentration. listen to what jeff said. it makes sense and keeps it accessible to more than just the hardest of hardened racing fans.

Options and assists=Arcade. If Gran Turismo 5:The Real Driving Simulator also has the same 'options' and 'assists', it will be an Arcadey game too.

   so you admit it. if one is an arcade game then so is the other as they both have similar options and assists.

But it also has Nascar, WRC, 1000 cars, 80 tracks, new physics engine, dynamic weather racing, much better graphics, support for more driving wheels

   so? forza has 100+ tracks & track editor, 400+ cars (all different), various event types, weather, damage calculations, tyre deformation, full tuning options. all this in addition to an advanced physics model and unpredictable artificial intelligence. add in the decal/tuning editor & shop plus the video creator.... you're precious list aint so impressive anymore is it?!

Plus it will have like a Zillion more players than Forza 3, so the Online mode will always be healthier.

   a couple of things here. first, it would help if that many people existed. second, if you could rely on all of those people to buy a ps3 and a copy of gt5 and all play it at the same time. and thirdly, finally, and most importantly, it would also help if ps3 had a bigger install base than 360, which it doesn't. plus, if all the players of gt5 are as close-minded as you are it won't be 'healthier'.

I want a real driving simulator, not a watered down racing experience. So that's why I'm going to buy Gran Turismo 5:The Real Driving Simulator.

   you do realise that the limited tuning options on any gt game that's currently available pale in comparison to even forza 2's tuning options? just so you know.

Frumpy, you should really give other games a chance instead of sticking with just one. if you don't, eventually, if it hasn't happened already, sony will become complacent and churn out any old shite just to get you to part with your £$. you need competition to progress. that's healthy. open your mind, Frumpy. and try to base your arguments on facts next time.
