The Game of the Year podcasts have been wonderful. Love hearing all of the staff's opinions, even - or especially - when I don't agree.

But HOW do you cut T-Rex with that little fanfare? These deliberations are a sham!

I thought Pokio was terrible. Sticking the nose into things and flinging him was so finicky and I missed almost half the time.

Meat is too much of a joke pick for me. It's dumb and very funny (exactly once) but top 3? Come ooon! Tropical Wiggler, Cheep Cheep and Uproot were all soooo good and had to be sacrificed for it.

Still, I'm glad everyone was on board with my man Pokio. Intensely satisfying gameplay. Not only the wall climbing but being able to shoot objects by poking and having a solid attack against enemies.

This is one I'm going to need to listen to. How do Uproot, Tropical Wiggler, T-Rex, and Bowser get the shaft in favor of Meat?

I was surprised at Chargin' Chuck, but after hearing their rationale, I thought back, and I totally agree with their analysis.

I much prefer Brad's fight for his spot than Alex's falling on the sword all the time for his pet picks.

Also wtf, I can't imagine doing this without the entire crew, Brad included.

Dan making Ben just lose it was fantastic.

I want someone to look at me the way @brad looks at Cheep Cheep.

I love how Dan has been relatively quiet throughout all categories and suddenly becomes extremely vocal during the dumbest one.

Jeff isn't crazy. I beat the game without capturing the T-Rex.

Meat was great because it made me think of that part in Inside. The right capture won, though.

I don't understand what they were supposed to do with Bowser. It's like a crazy cathartic moment where you just blow through blocks with ease because he's really strong. So many weird hangups this year in these discussions.

This and the Wolfenstein II categories were really refreshing breaks from the seriousness of the rest of the GotY stuff especially with how overly heated and toxic some of the comments have been on the site during the week.

Glad I'm not the only one who is upset about the lack of respect for Bowser. I was giddy when that happened and that section made me want Bowser Odyssey DLC. Pokio overrated, cool idea but the fling mechanic was iffy at best. And meat? Who the hell cares?

As someone who didn't play the game I really appreciate the scroll of the different captures.

Judging just by looks I don't get the deal with Pokio. Frog is all looks.

100% of the categories should be this.

The fact that no one even suggested Gushen is ridiculous. He's funny looking, has that sphere of water that gets smaller as you use it up (and you can refill by landing in water). And he has weird rectilinear movement which gives him a feel different from every other character. And he can fly (not every takeover can).

And if all that isn't enough he has the move when you shake the controller where he just basically spews water all over the place. And he does most of this by shooting water out of his butt!

I'm not saying Gushen was number 1, but he should be top 3. Not even being nominated is a massive oversight.

It's always great to see a category come together in a way that not everyone has to agree with each other, but at least they are all on the same page.

Holy shit, Dan's "Seducing this bird with your meat-wiggle." sold me on Meat. That was hilarious.

I like these sillier categories. A nice break between the more intense stuff.

I find myself re-watching these over this year's terribly boring format.
