Game Tapes 01: The Majestic Xbox

Although, I played that version of Paris Dakar, and it sticks out as the worst racing game I've ever played. I had a game breaking bug where I went from first place to last place mid race. And by that, I mean from like 3rd to 600th, because the Rally had like 600 participants. It was also 1/4th into the rally, which goes from Paris to Dakar over like 30 stages. The load times were also really terrible.

Also, Cubivore was one of my favorite games out of the gcn. (even if it was kinda bad.)

How can we get the raw footage too? That Luigis Mansion track isnt used ingame from what I know.

I've been listening to the bombcasts from 2012 while working lately and the last one I listened to they were talking about Majestic. Funny enough a lot of games they talk about have come up again in some form or another. This one just seems super specific.

These are Betacam, which is/was the standard for broadcast and much better quality than VHS.

Man this is reminding me of how great gaming used to be. and how bad it is now by comparison. Everything was full of ambition and wonder and now its all bitching and moaning.

This reminds me of when I was intern working at a television studio they used send me down to the archives for clips for the news channels or research, It is crazy how much is stored in physical back ups. The archives were pretty much the scene from Raiders of the lost arc area 51 location but with racks of tapes and various physical media as far as the eye can see.

This seems like a promising feature, hope there's more to come soon. I want to watch them watch the DNF trailer from E3 2001.

No. They recorded it before UPF last Friday. The way Jeff talked about it they might have another episode already recorded, but I'm not sure about that.

Good for Lisa Edelman, I guess, that Game Tapes isn't a live show.

Maaaaaaaan why can't square do their remakes like they used to? That Chrono Trigger art looked incredible, especially when compared to the awful FF6 rerelease.

I have an old Eidos VHS tape like this lying around somewhere. This is a way better concept than talking over old press conferences too! Having someone like Drew who knows video production on this on this is the best.

Can't wait for Game Tapes 02: The 2econd Coming.

Both this and Demo Derby are easily the two best things about being a Premium Member. Good stuff!

Rallisport Challenge 1 and 2 looked amazing at the time, and 2 in particular was a fantastic game.

Also, Bill Gates and The Rock acting like they were buddies was incredible.

I played the shit out of Jedi Power Battles as a kid. Never beat it, it had next to no tutorial and super strange and unreliable jump mechanics. The isometric view made it near impossible once I got to Naboo. I'm a bit embarrassed how much I remember about that game
