Hey Jan, if you want to be involved, by all means come out to the couch and join in on the conversation. I would love to have you out there and get your opinions on the games. But please stop with the graphics man.

I’m one of those weirdos who enjoys games with encumbrance and inventory limits. If forces you to make choices on where you are going to focus yourself instead of just picking up everything and becoming an unstoppable killing machine.

Jan raised the level of this whole video. Loved his silent touch.

Also this whole stream was a blast. I enjoyed Brad's enthusiasm and the display of how the sequel has expanded. It looks like I'll sink right into it.

graphics are great and show more work effort. Why slam someone for...trying. also Brad seems like a joy in this video. Like the team when they are happy. Seemed sad or worn out lately. Maybe e3 prep.

Really enjoyed this stream, would be cool if they did any kind of co-op, especially if it was Brad/Vinny. As long as they do a little research and know upfront some of the limitations of co-op.

When Brad described this game in the beginning, he was literally describing MGSu. MGSu is a 6/10 because it carries the Metal Gear name and fails to do anything with it. I spent 50 hours with it and the game itself was fine.

I wish Jeff was on this so we could hear his opinion on this even more.

@zinkn: There IS a main quest and overall story to the game (just as there was in the first game). *If you want*, you could postpone story quests indefinitely and have your little outpost-in-zombieland sandbox, but that's not a limitation of the game.

Yeah, since the co-op is the main new thing since the first game, it would have been nice to see some of it.

I've mentioned this before but this is the one Xbox game I've been waiting for a long time, but I'm most likely gonna play it on my PC. Kinda funny, funny but cool.

@400lb_gorilla: Strongly disagree. Jan has been a stellar addition to the GBW team and I have been loving the various graphical experiments we have seen since he joined (the playful ones you are complaining about and the changes that have been made to the multi-camera layouts and the subtitling on the bombcast - all great stuff).

Jeff would hate this game, I always found it bizzare that he decided to review Metal Gear Survive since it embodies a lot of the things he seems to loath in games. (survival elements, item management, time management) I think Brad might have actually enjoyed it to some degree although I agree at best that game is in the 6-7 range. It could have been much better if it strayed outside the basic survival mold and had more weird Metal Gear things in it. Although I'd be willing to bet what little story that game had is still much more than you would get with this. Not that that's the reason people play these sorts of games.

Even with this video I really can't tell if I'd like this game or not (didn't play the first one). I really dislike survival crafting games, but I really like top-down resource management games. Basically, I'm all for system-heavy time sinks, but I like having a constant, measurable sense of progress; and not having to deal with other players.

Thanks for the responses, didnt expect so many actually lol. I heard brad in the video just he cut off about it pretty quick and i wanted more general opinions. Dan seems more into this genre then Jeff's review made him seem so i wanted a take by a MGS fan and one who plays alot of survival games.

I have a general interest in survival games. The backlash of MGSu made me just watch the movie cutscenes. I liked the story, but again i even enjoyed MGSV story, they just had a weird subtle slow vibe that i felt was different and i enjoyed. Anyway since I didnt mind the MGSu not feeling like metal gear my big question was kinda answered. From what i read the core survival elements in State of decay are more in-depth and make it much better. I thought it was the setting (cars, buildings, modern) but i google searched a bunch of well received games with barren survival settings so ehh

Was really on the fence after hearing Waypoint talk about this game, convinced this is def my shit now. Directionless, sandbox-ass, emergent narrative bullshit.

Even watching the effect it had on these guys was great. At first they were all 'gee I dont know there sure are inventories in here" but then they were heavily invested as brad struggled to recover from some hasty exploration. Sans Ben "Weapon Durability" Pack, the sleepiness was on brand.

@fat_magnum: I feel like this game isn't going to change people's mind on survival base management game, but for some reason this is the first one of these types of games that I actually want to play. It's probably helpful that they're only asking $30 for it.
