Jeff's passion for interviews and love for all the people in the industry really comes through here, what a great nite.

Absolutely this. We rarely get to see Jeff interact with industry folk now, but these E3 night shows make me long for a regularly scheduled talk-show-style series throughout the year.

Jeff is a master as his interview skills and it is great to watch. I was in awe when Phil complimented Jeff at the end of the segment. He didn't have to say anything as it was over and Jeff was about to wrap it up but stopped it to compliment Jeff and what he does...I really liked that moment.

@azuregale: My comment wasn't aimed at the GB guys so much, I know they were down on last year's conference (but then they tend to be down on every con while they happen, but are more up on some in reflection, mainly because they do miss a lot of detail while talking, e.g. Alex explaining how there's been no acknowledgement of God of War having any connection to the original games, despite the developers saying at last E3 in interviews that it's set after those games, the Grecian urn being prominent early in this year's trailer, and the woman talking about Kratos' past while Alex was busy explaining the lack of acknowledgement).

It was more aimed at the segment with other journos, all from sites that last year pretty much said my fake quote in my original post. The worst offenders of this, though not on the show, were Easy Allies, the ex-GameTrailers guys. "This is how they all should do this from now on, they're stupid if they don't" is pretty much a quote from them, from what I remember, then they shit all over Sony's conference this year for doing exactly that.

Personally, I thought all of the conferences were good. The only exception was EA, which was piss-poor and felt they rested on their Star Wars laurels way too much (30 minutes dedicated to one multiplayer map in Battlefront was ridiculous), and of the rest Bethesda was probably the weakest but Wolfenstein pretty much saved them.

Who "won" or "lost" is ridiculous at this stage as it's completely subjective, and subject to many biases that the viewer brings to the table (I'm sure that there are those who love sports games, Battlefield and Star Wars that thought EA had the best conference).

Lorne Lanning's talks on VR and AR made me want to shut my ears tight, especially after hearing how rationally and collectedly Phil Spencer spoke about it. Neuron pathways and VR car accidents and stabbings, come on dude. And saying that AR is gonna kill it is ridiculous; AR is the end-game of VR, with options to both experience a closed-off virtual world and to augment your own world in one device.

Phil Spencer does make me glad I chose Xbox, but by the same token Shawn Layden always struck me as someone I'd want to steer well clear of. There just always seems to be something vicious just under the surface with him.

Every time I see Phil Spencer on these I like him more and more. I hope he continues running xbox, before he took the reins my feelings towards Microsoft (and Xbox by extension) were at an all time low, but it's been turned around by his frankness and game focused decisions for me (at least for the Xbox part).

The PuBG guy isn't that endearing really, it reeks of someone who got lucky but thinks his success is totally deserved.

Really- I don't get that vibe at all. Not the greatest interview, but he seemed pretty grateful to me.

'I love when someone in the industry says something is "quite easy" as I know there's 100 developers smashing their keyboards into their face'. Oh man do I love Rami, I wish he'd been there to temper Lorne Lanning's nightmarish levels of CEO bullshit speak.

@cheebahh: That didn't come across at all. It's not like he is a new developer, so I'm not surprised he came across as relatively confident or at least familiar with the things he was dealing with, but what did say that came across as him having undeserved confidence?

I actually was excited about the Shadow of the Colossus reveal. I never had a PS3 and haven't played the original in more than a decade.

Man this was probably the best night of interviews for me. Phil Spencer, Drew, Danny, Xavier Woods, Samoa Joe, Tim Willits, Lorne (mother fucking) Lanning, Heather, Griffin, Justin, Chris, Patrick, and Austin were all either super interesting, hilarious, or both. Just really great for all four and a half hours.

Anyone else not care about the wrestlers and just happy to see Drew doing his thing?
