Giant Bomb LIVE! at E3 2015: Day 01

This format showed why Jeff is such a good host.

That being said, I kind of miss the old format of a table with multiple developers talking about a lot of different things with Duders in the mix.

Robin was brilliant. Just totally knew her shit 100%.

Call me crazy but Phil Spencer seems solid as fuck. I'm personally a PS4 owner but it feels like Microsoft has been taking so many good steps recently. They did a fantastic job at showcasing their indie stable of games (a lot like Sony did last year and this year).

They have a long way to go (as do Sony and Nintendo) but I feel incredibly optimistic about where they're headed.

Please make sure the caterer at the end of the video stays in the final cut. Also, if that dude returns make sure you get him on the couch and talk to him about these video game things.

Does anyone here know what sort of shoes that dude sitting next to Jeff is rocking? I'm digging it.

The Final Fantasy talk at the beginning was awesome. Two of the three games Brad mentioned already have remakes too.

After seeing the turn around the Xbox One has taken under Phil, I have to wonder how different things could've been had he been there from the get go. The Xbox One was shown off as this new way to interact with your TV and very little to do with games and I feel as though that messaging (along with all of the trade-in stuff) really hurt them early on to the point where the PS4 became the defacto console for a lot of people, despite 2014 being a terrible year to be a PS4 owner with very few games to justify it.

I'm disappointed to hear about the FOV stuff not really improving for Hololens though. Early previews in January were extremely positive but newer showings seem much more negative. Will and Norm said that the earlier version was quite bulky and didn't have the FOV issue so I have to assume that by going to a much smaller and lighter unit, that they've lost some computing power.

Exactly what beautiful mind she has, I could feel her passion for what she does and she does it in a way that is clear to understand without looking down on people. Added bonus that she is a stunningly gorgeous lady.

Last section with Robin was brilliant. Very entertaining.

I'm a fan of the Idle Thumbs crew (Campo Santo/Firewatch guests) but holy mother of mercy that was painfully awkward to watch. GB talks are part panel, part pitch and that segment struggled with both. Good on Jeff for keeping that train moving.

Great show. The last segment was unexpectedly heady. I think Robin sold me on VR more than anyone else had before.

Kinda bummed Jeff seemed so down on fire watch. The game seems pretty cool but it's kind of a bummer he is so resistant to it

Man, I hate how people always talk about Shenmue. The first game, that is. Shenmue II fixed SOOO many of its problems. The world and NPCs were more interesting and fleshed out, there were more side activities, the fighting was improved, you could skip time when waiting for an event and there was less idle time between story beats in general unless you wanted to fuck around for two months waiting for some girl's birthday so you can give her a brooch.

And the first cost 67 mil, but how much was the second one?

Edit: Also, the chapter thing. The thing was supposed to be 16 chapters, yes, BUT the first game was chapter 1, the boat trip in-between games was chapter 2 and Shenmue II spanned chapters 3-6. So they weren't going to release 16 games.

Gosh, those 30 minutes of WHAT. IS. FIREWATCH? (1:24:07 - 1:56:44) were amazing. Love that nearly every action you do in the game will have a reaction. Can't wait to take the turtle all the way through the game, ala Half Life 2 gnome.

Did anyone else find the no-audio green room stuff of the guys milling around chatting just utterly captivating and charming? Seeing everyone relaxed, talking, joking around. Ahh... makes me wish I had friends!

This was entertaining, informative and relevant to my interests.
Great job all around. Guest bookings, audio, video, camera, action, crossed legs.

Steve Gaynor must have had a few beers along with the one he brought on set. He looked a lot more relaxed than I've seen before. As Dan would say, he's a cool guy.

The only disappointing part of this interview cast was that only Robin has seen Ex Machina, and not the others. It's brilliant!

The way the music intros for every E3 video is at completely different levels is so annoying.

Lots of poor armchair philosophy in the final segment. Not the fault of anyone in the segment since they are not academics, but the concepts of time presented are poorly developed and off point. I just had to get this off my chest as someone finishing a Ph.D. in philosophy who studied under someone who wrote several major pieces on time and is an expert on the previous major figure in the field. I only throw in that last sentence as an attempt to ward off being yelled at by the internet.

Great so PC players gets the first Gears twice....While I welcome Killer Instinct, it would have been nice if they would release Master Chief collection on PC.

That last segment was pretty interesting. Cool to see devs for both AAA games and small indie games thinking the same ways and having the same passions.

I know the Microsoft people probably requested it but we really needed some non microsoft people in that segment. Cuz that whole part was just pitch pitch pitch. Kudos to Jeff for making it interesting for a bit at least. At least that segment made me appreciate the more natural vibe when there's a mix of people from other companies.

Watching this archive reminds me of the year I took a week off for E3. Just staying out on the balcony with my laptop, hearing that break loop over and over, and really experiencing E3. This time around, I'm catching up on everything after the show and it's just some background discussion to listen to.

So I have nostalgia for fucking E3 coverage, what is happening?

Yup. @Jeff did an awesome job, but I think it'd be cool to have two Giant Bomb guys and two guest on at a time.

So, how come only day 2 is archived? I'd like to download this and day 3 and watch it in chunks.

@cagliostro88: After watching the video, I absolutely feel the reverse. she's so full of herself (..."during my phd in AI"...) I can't just get over how pretentious she is.

I love how the Idle Thumbs crew totally runs wild and doesn't talk about anything and sidesteps all questions about FIrewatch
