I feel bad that Dan is pre diabetic but im also totally not surprised at all.

I genuinely worry about Dan and his lifestyle.

There are studies that say half of Americans are Diabetic or Pre-Diabetic so it doesn't surprised me that Dan is too. You can't eat whatever you want and not pay for it eventually. Please everybody take care of yourself before it's too late. I hope Dan can keep his diabetes under control. We should start sending Dan healthy stuff instead.

Hey @danryckert? I'm sure you're taking your pre-diabetes with the kind of seriousness it needs, and SURELY a lot of us are overreacting, because why or how would we even know what you are doing, right? Of course it's crazy.

But just on that ONE HUNCH... just in case - that you think you can still curb pre-diabetes while you make "just one visit to Taco Bell here" or "just a little bit of candy there", well you should probably watch this.

Man, I normally take the tack that Dan is joking 99% of the time but this one has kinda stopped being funny.

Hell, you can live a long and healthy life with full-on diabetes, but not if it's the same life that got you there. If you save a giant sack of candy for the day when you're "clear" of pre-diabetes, you're still going to get diabetes. Switching to drinking half a dozen cans of diet soda a day is still not healthy. You can't just duck until this passes or bargain your way out of it by just having one or two pieces from every sack of candy that arrives in the mail from overseas.

I honestly don't know which is worse at this juncture, but Dan, whether you're joking about having a serious medical condition, toying with your blood sugar levels for an on-camera bit or actually this clueless about the position you're in, you should do yourself a favor and quit while you're not too far behind.

@xgryfter: Depends on how/when/where you are raised. Common things to you may be rare to someone else.

@dreiszen: I don't feel like he's kidding. Which is kind of gross as someone with type 1 diabetes. It's hard to watch people continually take their "good" health for granted.

being worried about him is one thing. being personally offended at his own personal habits that really aren't yours or anyone's business (but unfortunately kinda are as a consequence of his job) is another. try not to take it so personally.

i do wonder where you people were when alexis, a diabetic, ate 100 chicken nuggets on camera for the BLLSL. guess it was all fun and games then. not (really) excusing it, just a touch of a double standard there.

Dan knows what carbs are, he's talked about them before.

I think that people don't give Dan enough credit. His public persona is fairly carefree, but if you read between the lines from what he talks about on the bombcast and the like it seems like he is making genuine efforts to change his intake. Please stop judging people for their own lifestyle choices, public or private

"you people" what a nice thing to write. Personally i have no opinion on that whole topic whatsoever but seeing a respond like that just screams irony and hypocrisy.

His opinion is just as valid as yours, no need to degrade the man by putting a "you people" label on him like he is some kind of decease.

Dan can do whatever he wants to do, i dont think he needs online caretakers in any form.

@meierthered: When saying "you people" he's obviously referring to people giving medical advice/being offended at Dan eating candy here because of reasons, no need to try to blow that phrase up to mean something that it's obviously not. Not the most elegant phrase, but it's an innocent phrase when just referring to a group of people in a comment section.

And in the same way Dan doesn't need any caretakers he and we probably don't need people writing essays about diabetes and generally being judgemental every time he tastes a piece of candy on camera from now until the end of time. He has a doctor and probably does not need aggressive advice from strangers on the internet. That will only serve to make the comment section on this site even worse than it already is.

I like Diabetes Dan guys. I like him a lot.

I wasn't watching Giant Bomb back then, partly because the things I heard about it as an outside observer were "check out this guy eating 100 chicken nuggets". It's almost like the tone of the site changed in the year or so since then or something, I don't know.

That said, I have a hard time believing you can just brush off as capitol-o Offended the idea that someone wouldn't want to watch a man slowly poison himself on camera, fictional or otherwise. Normally when I don't like site content I close the tab and move on, but there's kind of a gulf between "I don't care for puzzle games" and "the joke here is that he's going to die but isn't smart enough to avoid it", you know? If that's what you're into, sure, but everyone going to bat for it this hard is some real "don't censor my titty sliders" shit to go out on.

All I'm saying is, if you don't want people talking about your "personal" business, maybe don't do it on camera and then ask people to pay to see it.
