AMD processors give more bang-for-your-buck in a $1000 PC build.

@darek006: At $600 sure, but at $1000 I think you've maybe passed AMD's real niche.

Also it's really a bummer people always complain when duders send the guys expensive stuff. People like giving things to those they have a connection with, and everyone is entitled to do whatever the hell they want with their own money.

Made me wonder - is there any kind of GB Community hardware swap? I know for a lot of people unless we know someone with immediate need, old computers or components just go in closets and collect dust.

@nime: Depends. I built my PC completely from scratch for $1000 last year (including monitor & accessories, which is probably the deciding factor here) and all sources and metrics pointed toward AMD being the way to go. This lines up with the ~$800 build on LogicalIncrements.com right now recommending AMD and the ~$1000 build recommending Intel.

I was kind of hoping Omar was that Arabian prince from the podcast that wanted to send each of the GB staff Titan video cards. But it turns out it's just some crazy dude from New Jersey.

Wow, that whole PC thing is stupid all around. Buy PC for 1000 bucks, find out you don't like it, too lazy to sell it, send it to a big company that can easily get one of those themselves. At least I'm pretty sure CBS would pay for another one if they needed it.

That PC was the product of that person's money (effort). He'll do whatever he pleases with his PC that he no longer wants. He is by no means obligated to send the PC to whoever NEEDS it the most, but to whomever he WANTS to have it. By your standards, all of you that buy gifts for family, you should spend that money on charity instead, no? By no means is he wrong in any way for choosing not to throw away his money to underprivalaged kids instead of the people of his choice.

cool, and the commenters in this thread are just as free to critique what he does with that PC when he mails it to a gaming site to appear on a video.

Actually, you're going to need to clarify the point of your original post, considering "I do what I want!" as a response is generally considered an effort to shut down actual discussion.

I have two high end gaming pcs, my main is an i7 4770K and the other is an AMD FX8530 Octa core, both running at 4.5ghz and they are really great processors for gaming, the amd is especially good for battlefield 4 for the low price of a regular non K i5.

Damn it. I really wish Drew would do some research on fitness. Crossfit is the biggest scam that is not only useless, but is also very likely to cause unnecessary injuries. There are many great cardio exercises that actually work and have proper form. Here's hoping Drew will realize how big of a bullshit crossfit is.

@elpatitoyupi: Having the extra storage space was probably more valuable for the guy and didn't have anyone else to give the computer to. Plus the letter said he didn't want to go through the hassle of selling it so I doubt he cared about the money.

@zapf: you assumed that implication on your own behalf. The purpose of a rebuttal is to oppose view-point (or to further understand a point, through questioning, I suppose) not to demand silence.

We've seen worse things dumped on the guys, but realistically that is not a machine that they'll have much use for. Congratulations, you just created more (site-unrelated) work for the crew.
