@razzuel: They'd be shooting themselves in the foot pretty hard if they made a handheld/home console hybrid and then didn't move their handheld games over to it. They'd be shooting themselves in the foot even harder if they proceeded to make a separate 3DS successor that isn't the Switch. The 3DS will probably still see support from third party Japanese developers for a while after the Switch is released, but it'd be foolish of Nintendo to release anything on the 3DS or Wii U after the Switch is out unless it's something that absolutely can't be ported.

If you just want a plain bake potato, turn off after around 1 minute. But this is goooood.

The poop talk on the bombcast never grosses me out, neither does all the talk about bugs in food. Anytime Dan talks about his eating habits though? Its horrifying.

@takoyaki: I don't think the idea of shooting themselves in the foot precludes the Switch from only being a Wii U successor. I just don't think there's enough hard evidence to suggest otherwise, especially with the size of the Switch, battery life concerns, a lack of dual screens, a touch interface still unconfirmed, no children in the Switch video, and Nintendo's coyness so far.

Maybe I'm mistaken, but the 3DS seems like a significant part of Nintendo's profits. A unification of console and handheld platforms at this point would be very risky from my point of view, especially considering the lack of success the Wii U saw. Sure, a bunch of third parties have pledged Switch support, but there's real precedent and plausibility for that to evaporate, leaving the Switch in the same position as the Wii U. And if the Switch can't be as successful as the 3DS or more, Nintendo would be in a bad way.

There was some good Switch discussion on this Bombcast (better than most places' seemingly blind enthusiasm), but I think the 8-4 Play podcast addressed my concerns more fully.

The Nintendo Switch is reportedly a Nvidia Shield. If it supports PC to Switch streaming then it will be the PERFECT companion to PC and I will buy one at launch.

There are rumors floating around that GTA V had single player DLC planned but now it's been reworked into multiplayer (going beyond the small item packs into something more like full city expansion).

I'm really curious to see how they juggle the future of GTA Online with an impending Red Dead release, and how much RDR2 is influenced by the success of GTA Online despite a seemingly large portion of the fan base wishing Rockstar would stick with a story focus.

I know there are 8M players per week in GTAO, but I don't understand what those people are doing with their time.

Hard to hit a terabyte? Are you serious? Let's say you have a family of four and each of you watches an average of one movie per night. That's it. Nothing else. No streaming music, no remote backup services, no VPN, no VOIP, no podcasts, no twitch streaming, no watching youtube or creating content for youtube, no streaming radio, no bit torrenting, no downloading video games, no playing video games, and no web surfing whatsoever.

A family of four, watching an average of one movie (two hours of HD content) per day will easily use at least 960gb per month - possibly more. Throw in some 4k content and that amount will skyrocket.

Or, let's say a family of four where you have a console and a PC and a bunch of games installed (with dozens of games installed, you'll eat up tons of data per month per PC just on steam game updates auto downloading). Let's say Dad and Junior get the new 130gb COD. There's 260gb right there. Just on one game. And let's hope no patch update to it is just as big (remember back when the 45gb Halo collection required a 45gb update?).

One terabyte is trivial to exceed and has been for a very long time, if you get all of your content over the internet and, in our family, we do. I'm connect to work via VPN 24x7. All of our entertainment (television, movies, podcasts, youtube shows, twitch channels, books, audiobooks, comics, video games, music, radio) comes in over the internet. Most of our vital data is backed up remotely, in case of, you know - fire or burglary. One of us streams fairly often, too.

One terabyte is a given, every month. It's a base line. Two terabytes is a more common amount of usage, sometimes going well above and sometimes a bit below. And this has been the case for a couple years, at least.

What's the difference between the Premium and regular Podcast videos?

@branthog: My first month with a 60mbps line saw me hit 1.5tb, and that was just Steam and Netflix. It eventually averaged out at under the tb but that was just me on my own.

If I end up getting a Switch I will play at home and with the analog nubs separated like the dude on the airplane. I remember at the time thinking the Wiimote+nunchuk combo, while goofy in concept was actually surprisingly comfortable and laid back. Letting myself recline on something with my arms at my sides was a chill as hell way to play games. Not sure if anyone else feels the same way I do about that. Talk about battery life, I wonder if having two separate wireless signals for a single controller would make the battery on those things even shorter on the go.

Jeff's getting me excited for Titanfall 2. I feel like I can always count on his objective opinion most of the time when it comes to FPS games. I didn't play the beta but I rented the 360 version of the first game and I really enjoyed it, but clearly it felt very conceptual as a first go of a new series. I'm a bit worried because I felt pretty comfortable fucking shit up in a Titan by the end of my time with the first game especially once I unlocked the Titan grenade launcher. At least they ditched those lame burn cards which is a relief.

The Joycons have L1/L2/R1/R2 when docked. The Mario Kart segment shows at least one hidden trigger still being used that is tucked into the "inside" edge, and they quickly release and retap the right one for hopping/drifting.

Lately the only Baked potatoes I've been eating are from Omaha Steaks

Their talk about 1 TB data caps for internet just reinforces how fucking garbage internet is up here in Canada. Caps here are between 200-400 GB for lower priced services.

I'm using basically the only viable ISP in my area (Mediacom Cable) and I pay for the highest speed I can get, which nets me the highest data cap possible in my neighborhood at 350 GB a month.

I've basically completely accepted that I'm going to exceed that every month and end up paying 50+ dollars a month in data penalties.

American cable is a racket.

I don't know which insane "how is this man alive" story broke me more, the spray can cheese guzzling (that dan was rightfully made fun of for doing) or the fact he's never, essentially, eaten a potato as like, just a potato.

How, how do you go through life not experiencing that, but growing up doing something so bat-shit crazy as guzzling spray can cheese. I wouldn't eat spray cheese if someone paid me.

Comparing the beastcast response to the switch reveal (which was much less positive) to this was interesting. Maybe the differences we see at game of the year between the coasts have as much to do with console preference as type of game preference?

And really NEITHER of the GB podcasts made the joke of any JOY you might get from the switch being a CON? I mean come on IT WAS RIGHT THERE!

Do males use bags now? I mean I am 38 and I would feel really weird carrying a bag that wasn't a gym bag or a lunch bag (and I can't see putting a switch in either of these). Also if you are going to bring one of these to a roof top party - why even go? Are not parties about talking to people??

I have a 3DS XL and have always been able to fit it in my pocket. Not a crazy cargo pants situation either; just a normal jeans pocket.

Disappointed that Rockstar didn't make GTA V single player DLC as well. The GTA IV stuff was so damn good. GTA V was shaping up to be even better, I thought, since the whole character switching thing could come into play. I had a number of fun sessions with friends in GTA Online, but I honestly think I would trade that away for more excellent single player DLC. I only ever got to play that first heist in Online because I rarely had 3 friends ready to go for all of those missions, and I didn't want to play it with randoms.

@ketta: I think it could be one of a number of things. First of all, from the time they finish the podcast, it takes some time for them to turn all the audio (and video) into archive form instead of a stream. I think. Plus editing and putting in the ad breaks for the non-premium podcast takes a bit, I'd assume. Second, it takes time for them to push it to the RSS feed. Third, your podcast app of choice may not be polling the RSS feed constantly; try manually refreshing it and see if that gets it to you faster.

I know Jeff said you could find PlayStation VR in stores, but I'll be damned if I can! I have looked at all the local stores for either in-store pickup or online. There is not one to be had at the MSRP, or from a store in my area (Cape Cod MA). All teh listing seem to be from 3rd parties, and they are either selling just teh headset at a jacked up price, or the Launch Bundle for $800

Typically, I'd just go to Amazon.com; but even they are seems to only have 3rd party units. Oh, sure they fulfilled from their own warehouse, but at a jacked-up price set by 3rd party sellers. So, now I feel stuck. I'm not going to pay $100 over the price to get it, but time is ticking towards Black Friday.
