JOKE: i wanna see PUBG win the law suit. Die hard fans that hate fortnite can jump for joy as the law suit hits US and they win there. Then i want it where games cant copy games at all for anything. THUS starts the war of greedy publishers who sue more than they create so games just come out 2 or 3 at a time but only the most bonkers unique stuff. Then I can sit back and blame PUBG and its Award winning exclusive mediocre unoptimize mess for causing a game crash while also crediting it for the most unique 2 or 3 games that will now exist which are likely AAA 8 bit games cause no one is gonna risk money developing games for fear of law suits. MWWHHAAA hhaa.

Valkyries are difficult but certainly not cheap or bs. Its just that they are the most Dark souls like encounter in the entire game. Learn moves and patience.

@humanity: i both 100% disagree and 100% agree with you. Atreus having some character development seems like a weird thing to have a negative reaction to. Sure it can be infuriating or uncomfortable in the moment, but its a critical and well executed (although slightly rushed) part of the story.

But yes remembering stories is not Dans best skill.

I feel like you forgot an eulogy in there. It felt like a pretty big deal from where I'm standing when Totalbiscuit passed away last week. I guess you guys aren't that big into youtube video game personalities, but if it's worth discussing when Pewdipie says something racist I think it would be worth at least a mention when one of the biggest names in that scene dies at 33.

Sorry if I just missed it - I do skip around when you talk about news items or games I don't care much about, so maybe it's actually in there.

PS Wario Land is pretty great, I liked 2 and 4 a lot. Also I'm pretty sure 4 is the only GBA Wario platformer. It was a launch game, I think? So it looks really pretty and they did some fun stuff with voice clips and sound, but it's also fairly short. I think the "sound mode" in there was the first instance of the wacky stuff they based Wario Ware off of. It had animated pictures of a real dude cosplaying Wario.

PUBG was always a bang-average flavor of the month fad. The entire lawsuit thing is pretty laughable too.

Turns out God of War might've been slightly overhyped. Who would've thought? I did enjoy it a lot but don't blame Jeff for burning out. The story didn't really do much for me either.

@redhotchilimist: I was never a big fan of the guy and his content always felt like an inferior imitation of GB. Having said that, not even mentioning his passing is very shitty. Whether you think he was a positive figure, a negative one or - like I think myself- somewhere in between, there is no doubt he was significant.

Death is the great equalizer and in situations like that personally not liking the deceased shouldn't matter. You don't have to give him an emotional eulogy but not mentioning it on one of gaming's bigger podcasts? It's very disrespectful and however many times he fucked up, John Bain does not deserve to be treated that way. He might not have been a pleasant guy but he fought for proliferation of PC gaming and those contributions are certainly significant..

Dammit, I didn't even like the guy but to see the guys treat John this way is just so terribly disappointing. :( :( :(

I have a hard time believing Battlefield is going to be a lose from leaving out microtransaction. They might not make as much money as year's last but it should be far from a write off year. Maybe some mid level business boys get a little less of a bonus from this year's shipment.

Brad, I think Rocky 1 still holds up pretty well as a dramatic boxing film. It's got some oddly well executed quiet scenes of characters interacting with each other in believably awkward ways. The ending suits the film pretty well.

The rest are less mandatory, though Rocky IV is a truly astounding piece of American Cold War propaganda, more or less.

Re: Jeff's idea about Battlefield doing a World War II game that deviates from history in some way, let me hit you with this:

Pretty screwed up that you guys didn't even mention Totalbiscuit's death. TB was a big fan of GB and would often hold this site up as an example of journalistic integrity. I'm sure many people found their way here because of his recommendations. But to not even acknowledge his death from cancer at the young age of 33? He was arguably one of the biggest faces in PC gaming. I can only assume you guys glossed over it because his political beliefs may have been slightly to the right of yours? Either way, it makes me sad.

I agree with the others regarding your lack of addressing Totalbiscuit's untimely death. You guys mention other deaths all the time but somehow failed to mention this one? Seriously? It's messed up considering that he looked up to you guys.

Frankly I find the insinuation by multiple people in these comments that there is some kind of deliberate political motivation to the lack of a mention for Totalbiscuit's death to be far more disrespectful than the oversight itself. It's not as if they scoffed at the man's life or views. At worst it was an oversight, and at best it just wasn't on their radar.

@kevin_cogneto: Other people in their circle have come out against TB after his death due to his connections with gamergate in its early days, before eventually condemning it. I don't think it's too much of a stretch to think that the lack of a mention of his death is politically motivated. I'm hoping it was just an oversight and they mention it next week, because it would be uncharacteristically petty for them, otherwise.

The Valkyrie fights are generally a good indication of how good your gear is. Things like cool down and runic matter more in there than in other parts of the game.

I guess I should go ahrad and be prepared for God of War to be written off in Game of the Year because its a 5 star game from the first half of the year :p

I don't get the aggro attitude many people have online when you say something like, "I like the Battlefield series because of how seriously they take the stuff in the game". When I say something like this I mean accuracy in terms of things like the audio, the look, etc. Clearly its more "arcadey" than a hardcore sim like ARMA but playing something like Battlefield 2, 3, and 4 felt way different than Call of Duty where you're calling in killstreaks and stuff. The trailer for Battlefield 5 (which the marketing team for Battlefield has been "hitting it out of the park" since Battlefield ONE, at least) was very...tonally bad? Felt more like I was seeing a Wolfenstein-esque alternate reality game or something. I mean, I love Bad Company 1 and 2 but I kind of think that tone should stick to those games?

Surprised that we're apparently in the "turning point" for Doom where we're oddly poo pooing it and how "serious" it was taking itself. I...really sometimes wonder if 3/4 of the crew just isn't so completely jaded against video games in general, lol. I really don't see how "more Doom" but with different environments and a continuation of the story is a bad thing. I doubt there's any sort of souring on the game...literally the only two people who've said anything like this, that I've read/heard, are Brad and Jeff in this podcast. I will say Wolfenstein 3 will absolutely need to do something new for me to care. I finally played through, and beat, the second Wolfenstein and kind of think that game is awful in both combat design and its uneven, manic tone. I honestly said, "I'm so done with this game" when your pregnant lady friend slides overtop you cowgirl style, rips her shirt off, screams, and kills 'dem Natzis topless and pregnant. That game is so stupid and hamfisted in the laziest ways possible. Simply doing Mecha-Hitler can't save that franchise in my opinion if its just more of ol' BJ murmuring to himself and killing one dimensional black clad bad guys (with terrible combat and one good/fun weapon).
