I like that title a whole lot.

I like Abby playing old games a whole lot, too. We've seen Jeff play old games with extensive knowledge, having Abby play games from before she was born seems potentially... great?

Don't get discouraged, Abby. Cocky Dan had to start somewhere, too!

For those asking, "didn't Dan already do this feature?":

Dan's feature was focused specifically on beating Mike Tyson, not a full playthrough of the game. Abby playing it is interesting because, as mentioned a few posts up, the game came out before she was born. I appreciate that she's impressed with it despite its age.

I hope I wasn't the only one in the chat who suggested this title, because it was so obviously good that everyone should've done so!

This was fun, even if Dan already did something similiar. But that exactly wasn't a long-lasting series, so...let's go!

Oh right, there is one game on Steam that seems to be influenced by Punch-Out! and it's called Beast Boxing Turbo. I own it, but honestly only gave it a few minutes of playtime before moving on. Just wasn't in the mood for it, I guess!

Bummed that they're having her play the NES version (which Dan already played?)... the Wii version of Punch Out doesn't get enough love on this website.

Seconding this - the Wii Punch-Out is somehow as good, if not better than this super classic game. They just went all-out with the look and personality of all the fighters, the music variations, the dozen secret moves and strategies for every fight, and they remixed every fighter for Title Defense mode on top of that. The game controls really well (as long as you're not using motion controls), and it's the best remake of Punch-Out you could hope for. Seeing the classic being played, honestly, makes me want to dig out my Wii again and see how well I can do after not touching the remake for so long.

Agreed! As much as the original holds up (and it really does), it's 30 years old at this point. The Wii version felt to me like an improvement in nearly every way, and I personally feel like it would be more fun to watch.

Same here. The NES game is great and all, but I'm not going back to it after playing the Wii game because they did such a great job at making the same game even better in 3D, with some of the most expressive animation and remix of a song out there. I get that the original is Dan's favorite and what he grew up with, but I'd love to see you all take on that game at some point. Alongside the Mario Galaxies, it's my favorite game on the Wii.

Was a fun episode anyway, I laughed so hard at that final match.

Hi, just jumping back in here to say that Punch-Out is actually significantly MORE than 25 years old, and I'm bad at math. My point stands.

Yah just wanna chime in as well that as much as I love any content from the guys and Abby especially, kinda wish they wouldn't have done basically the exact same thing Dan did a while ago except now Abby is doing it. Heck someone joked about Abby playing Arms in the chat and that would be kinda interesting. This is cool and all but it does feel a bit stale.

Aaah, seein' that title change sure is satisfying. I'm the one who pointed it out to Abby in chat. I can't, however, take credit for the actual name, AKA the important part. The genius who came up with it remains unknown.

To me, this is nothing at all like Dan's attempt at a Punch out Series beyond the fact Punch Out is playyed in both. To me, this is more like Abby's version of Vinnyvania or Blue Bombin'. After beating this, I can see her playing through Super and the Wii one.

I hope I don't sound like a jerk, but a lot of people here and in the chat have been saying that this series is a repeat. Other people have pointed out, but others are saying it is the exact same thing as the old one. I don't understand how "Abby plays through Punch-Out, a game see never played through before" and "Dan, who played a ton of Punch Out but never beat Mike Tyson, will play specifically Tyson every day but oh wait, he beat him on the first day throwing all of Drew's hardwork out the window" are the same thing,

I'm probably overly sentimental but damn seeing Abby wearing Dan's boxing rags is so weirdly heartwarming. After watching Eye of the Ryckert, it's like he's passed the torch down; and I couldn't be happier seeing him be so supportive/helpful.

I really wish there was an HD port of the Wii game for Switch. Going back to it (I played about a year or so ago) it still plays well, but the UI is blurry and it is inconsistent in the menus for when you can use buttons and when you need to point with the wiimote. Otherwise it's a stellar game, would love to see an Abby attempt at that game.

Neat concept, excellent name!

About pressing Select before or between rounds:

If you are low on Stamina, you can press Select between rounds to partially refill stamina. However, if you are full on stamina, or if you press it more than once, you'll lose stamina.

Normally, I would be slightly concerned with the amount of times I threw my hands in the air in celebration while alone in my house, but this was pretty awesome. Abby is a true champ and I hope they keep this series going through the other games.

@ybbaaabby I think you may have attached this video to the wrong game? You have it listed under the original arcade 1983 Punch-Out!! I believe you want the 1987 Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! page here.

@danryckert I rented Power Punch 2 once when I was a kid and you play a dude that looks like Mike Tyson except his name is different and you fight aliens. The game is garbage because the aliens you fight are all super cheap and have insane amounts of health. It's really hard and I never got past the first few aliens in that game.
